    I recently moved from New York to North Carolina. It is safe to say it is a bit warmer here since it is summer time. I have noticed my intake air temps are getting over 150 degrees F when in traffic. When driving doing around 60MPH they come down to where i'm comfortable around 20 over ambient. What is a safe way I can reduce my under hood temps to hopefully reduce intake temps and coolant temps?

    If you still have the rubber cowl seal mounted to the hood removing that may help some.

    You didn't say what your intake setup looks like.

    It was 85+ degrees and roughly the same humidity at the track this past Saturday here, I hot lapped my truck and even while in the staging lanes my temps stayed within 20 degrees of ambient not moving. The main reason is because of the airbox and where it pulls air from. If your air box is gone and just a cone filter pulling it air off the radiator, that would be a major cause.

    I have a fenderwell intake. driving in about 100 degrees it will sit around 110-120 but if sitting in say a drive thru it gets up over 160...

    Temp gun your intake tube, see how hot that is getting. It may be super heating the air after it enters the filter at idle.

    I dont think it would hurt with intake temps getting hot like that at idle as it goes right down once i start driving. My coolant temps started to climb too which I dont like. I have a 180 stat and normally the gauge never goes past the second line but it got to the third at idle.
    I thought maybe the radiator heat soaked from idling???

    at its age you probably have a good bit of crap blocking airflow between the condenser and the radiator. the condensor never seems to be clogged but removing the radiator "keeper" arms and leaning it back towards the engine will let you see all the cottonwood fuzzz/ etc thats blocking it, compressed air or a low power pressure wash
