My Pontiac has no crank. I replaced the batterie, the starter, I tested the ignition switch, all the grounds to the engine. The TRS isn't bad. Everything works up to the flywheel. I know the engine is not seized I can manually rotate it. When try to turn it over the flywheel moves about a inch, everything stops and it moves back again.
I am stumped on what's wrong with my vehical.

if its a na engine i bet its hydro locked form a failed upper intake, take the spark plugs, out, then crank it. if it spins free and coolant shoots out, that is the time you ask your self just how many times did i try to start it and it was moving that inch and back, cause doing that over and over and over will kill the rod bearing.

You are positive that no cylinders are filled with water/coolant and causing a hydrolock situation?

http://www.grandprixforums.net/threa...36-UIM-Failure this is why it happens, most still have the plastic lim gaskets that can also fail, so you change then at the same time.

If the motor is filled with coolant, try and drain a bunch out of the block then re-install the spark plugs. That way when you fire it up it won't fill with coolant again, if the motor starts knocking then it's toast. You can run it for several minutes with no coolant in it.

If no knock, repair the engine as needed. Without knowing exactly what you drive, you likely need upper intake and lower intake gaskets if it's a 3800.

I said what needs to be replaced in my post above if it did hydro lock the motor. Sometimes even in the intake manifold needs replacement.

Then it still sound electrical if the starter won't keep spinning.
