cool. thanks. discard my previous message.
okay sorry to revive an old thread but i figure this is a good spot to post this..
So ive successfully debadged so i can repaint.. now once i repaint, how do i RE badge.. at least the trunk.. lol.. the foam 2sided stick is thicker than what ive seen on shelves, any one got suggestions? or product locals?
I struggled a lot with the dealership badge, but found that WD-40 works wonders on the adhesive. So when I removed the '24 VALVE V6' badges I used WD-40 and an old CD and it worked beautifully! The cd was soft and flexible enough to work fine with the paint. I just soaked a little WD-40 into the badge for a few minutes beforehand, then whiped it with a rag afterwards.
Blow dryer in one hand, and a small flat head screwdriver in the other. Next, use your finger nail to get the rubbery tape stuff off. A good cleaner/wax will take off the residue
that's pretty risky to be using a flat headed screwdriver next to your paint. one little slip and you've got a big problem. I'd recommend the fishing line instead, its a lot safer.
DO - send me enough letters to make a GTP front grill badge!!
yeah... I'd stay away from anything metal when taking stuff off. I've also read that the magic eraser works well at getting the goo off, and doesn't damage paint................so I used it on my wife's truck as a test....so far so good, no lost gloss either.

just used dental floss to get the dealer badge started, then pulled it off the rest of the way, then cleaned up the goo with wd-40.. I'm leaving the Limited Edition badges on though!

I used coated electrical wire at the junk yard today because the floss kept braking.. gotta be resourceful ya know! It was much stronger, and cut through the tape like butter!
Too funny.....I started looking in this thread just for that reason....just bought my car and there is nothing I hate more then being an advertisement for a car dealership no matter how good of a deal they cut me.....next day we don't have any snow/rain here that quirk chevy decal is long gone....

ive been debating on whether or not to debadge my GP. will it leave an outline of the badge when u take it off? like...brighter paint under where it was compared to the rest of the car or anything?
no it will not leave an outline if you clean it right afterward, just use alcohol, goo gone, goof off, etc. as stated before
