Looking to buy rims.. I want to get 20 inch rims on my 01 GTP but some people said they will rub and they will not fit.... I like 18s but if 20s will fit and wont rub I want them... anyone here have 20s on there GP?? let me know!! and what do you have to do if anything to the car when putting 20s on a GTP!! do you just put them on or do you have to do anything special Im new to putting rims on so I realy dont have a clue!!!

depending on width of rim, a 20 in will fit with no problems

20s are a great choice depending upon the style of rim you choose. if i were to own another GP id put 20s on it. you need to know the width of the rim and the offset for anyone to be able to tell you if it will rub or not.

i had 20 inch chrome akuza reaper rims on my grand prix gt, they looked pimp. however i dont recall the offset or rim width. they fit fine however i did have to cut some of the inner plastic part of the fender which isnt a big deal. just a little 2inch strip where the wheels touched all the way turned. i did insert some spring lifters for the back wheels because when you go over bumps and your supsension lowers then the sidewall of the tire wouold hit on the metal part of the fender. that was bad. so get spring lifters from advanced auto or wherever. but the ride is very stiff with 20s i now have 18s on my car cuz i sold the 20s. but for your bennefit i'd wait til spring to put rims on otherwise the road salt will eat them up. be careful on the transmission with 20's. you do have a gtp with a HD transmission so u might be fine. cuz big wheels is hard on them.

My 20's never have any rub problems. Only time i have issue is with people in the back and my heavy ass box and 15's in the trunk. It rubs when i hit a bump. But with out all that then no problems

I Had 20's On Mine. I Had To Cut The Fenders And Add Spacers. But I Would Recommend 18's For Sure. Its Easier On Your Tranny And It Doesnt Rob You From Any Horses.

also, 20s can fit without any cutting or rubbing issues if you buy the right set and right tires. it also doesnt "rob you of horses", it just adds more rotational weight. that means that you could possibly cause your car to be slower and add more strain on your transmission, but thats about it. your car will still make the same amount of power.

ok bio248 understand that if you're buying 20's for your car i would think that the first thing anyone would be looking for is style and if they are for a fwd car. ok then its whether or not can you adjust your car to fit these wheels because its all about what the car looks like with the style of 20's chosen. no one buys that expensive of rim and tire for ****s and giggles. unless your Richie Rich of course. i spent weeks looking for the perfect wheel for the right amount of awesomeness. so yes i had to modify the car a tad.

usually when you go over 18s, depending upon the offset, youll have rubbing issues. whether they are minor and you just have to cut a little of the inner fenderwell out or its major and you have to roll and pull the fenders, thats another story. i would never buy another set of wheels unless they were 20s if i had a GP again. however, 18s on my impreza look huge.

okay I need some help. I have an 07 Grand Prix with 35k miles. Just slapped on some 20's car looks super nice now. But there is one issue, the damn car shakes like crazy now. These were brand new rims and tires. Rims made by DUB and tires are Pirelli so nothing cheao was used. I've had the alignment done, I've had the rims re-balanced 3 times, twice by laser which is supposed to be the best. I had two shops look over the car, nothing wrong with any of the suspension. I had both the rims and tires looked at, and both have no issues (bent,bubbles,ect). Any thoughts? Any help at this point would be great.

Having my car alignment done yet once again and shop said they will confirm if the rim needs the hub centric rings. Thanks for the advise I will update hopefully later today

or your tires are prob directional and you dont know that..

What's up everyone turns out the rings were the issue. Car is running and driving like a champ. Thank you everyone for your help, I love this site. I'll post up some pics here real soon. P.S we need to have a meet up.
