I have a 1992 Grand Prix SE that is in great shape except on the bumpers and wheel well body panel area.

The paint which is red, is dull ,then goes to a white haze with some flaking then back to nice painted red again, this is only on the top edges of those areas mentioned.

I tried Meguiar's wax cleaner and had some red oxidation come off on the applicator.

What is the haze, old wax? and am I on the right track?

The flaking is the clear coat comming off. The red on the applicators is your base coat comming off.

TDC, Well that seems about right but what can I do to restore these areas and with what products would you use?

Well since it is already gone there is no way to restore it now that it's gone unfortunatly. If it was just the clear coat fading you could wet sand it and high speed polish it and it would look new. But unfortunatly that's not the case.

    New paint job. That's it.

if you're already down past the clear coat then you're going to need a new paint job.

yea i agree their is no waxing that can be done to restore that trust me i am a freak when it comes to keeping my car clean....unfortunately bright reds like that and blacks get that pealing when they get old and havent been well maintained over the years. if the rest of the car looks good just get the faded sections re-painted
