What are you trying to clean? Grease or some type of salt from the roads? Anyway what i always have done is just pressure wash it at the car wash. Never had any problems doing it this way.

I have not ever worried about any of that. FWIW this was my old combo before i went turbo.

Kept this looking pretty clean. Sorry i don't have any closer up shots. And the oil pan gasket leak does not help much.

I started using purple power, just spray it on and 10-15 min later wash it off with a garden hose.
I dont have any pics but it workes pretty good. and it gives you time/room to get everthing, even under your ride.

I used greased lightning I think from Home Depot but, I did cover the alternator and the coil packs with foil and it started right up and it was pretty clean too. You might not have to cover those things but it sucks when the car will not start.

careful about the strong detergents like purple power and grease lighting. best and safest is simple green.

You can dilute greased lightning if you don't want it so strong. I used it straight and it got rid of all the nasty winter crap......I did find mouse turds on top of the blower, it was a cold winter!!

Lol I found those too. I think I ran it out when I cleaned the engine cause my wife found one INSIDE her SUV. Was the funniest thing ever. She went and bought 5 traps and killed the poor bastard lol.

Simple Green is a general purpose degreaser that is biodegradeable. Just google it. I used it as well and it works great.
