Honestly all i had to do to get access to the interior of my consol all i had to do is pop the top of it and you can see everything!
I know it has been a while, but did you ever have any luck on the console removal? I just helped my dad put mine back in the other day because he snagged the shifter cable when putting the transmission back in.
