got a good 100+ pounds in wiring they leave inside the car for all the lights, brother worked at the police college when they got rid of the cars the just cut everything off and sell. its not alot heavier but every 100 pounds matters, specially for our 16 second cars lols.

I have recently became the owner of a '04 Impala 9C1. That being said I have been kinda forced into researching this topic first hand after my transmission took a **** and caught on fire (long story). This thread does have a lot information that I found useful, so I'll source some more. I had previously believed that the 9C1's had the HD transmission, but sadly they don't according to the information I found on this site here
    https://m.facebook.com/GM3800Tips/posts/577991379016695

^^^It is probably the best source of transmission compatibility information for our platforms I've ever come across.

do you have the data base loaded up and set up in dhp? if your all set up you can always load up a non po po package bin some bins are not mapped but the pcm will take another bin for your year car.

have you used the dhp on any other cars is what im asking,?

theres a data base you need to drop in the dhp folder, then select database. its part of the set up when you first install it.

and yes your pcm will take another bin file. heres a load of 04 imppy bins https://www.dropbox.com/sh/4v89affyj...uYcEnZDCa?dl=0

What exactly do you mean by having the DHP database loaded up and set up? I have found a bunch of BIN files online but I don't think I have a BIN file for a '04 Impala. Pretty sure I have some for the previous years though. My concern is that if I'm able to flash another BIN file on from another Impala, will it still communicate correctly with the BCM on my 9C1 or will I have just screwed myself since I do not have a copy of the original bin file? The fact that access to the original BIN file on my PCM seems locked out to my tuner worries me.

bcm and pcm are two different things, one has nothing to do with the other. your are working on the PCM only.

and i explained the database in my last post. its what makes dhp work. its a list of mapped bins for dhp, its part of the operating system i guess you could say.

Yes I've used my DHP on several GTP's in the past. It's been close to 8 years since I set it up so I don't really remember setting up the database. Thanks for the link to those '04 BIN's, you have just given me some more hope for this car. Because if this works then hopefully I can put whatever is salvageable from my previous built, cammed, GenV setup to good use!

Hmm for some reason PowrTuner won't open up that '04 Impala L36 - Police Stock BIN file. It opens up the rest of the BIN's just fine except for one other. Hopefully I can just use one of the non police model BIN files and just change the VIN to mine and get it to work without having to reprogram the 9C1 BCM.

your pcm will retain its vin #, just check it after you flash it. some bins are corrupt it seems. i just dl'ed that one and checked the one on my hard drive, neither will open.

other then maybe a gear change in the bin a normal file should work i think.

I'll give her a try. If it works I'm gonna be happy as hell to be back in the modding world.
