I live in Victoria, BC and have a 99 GTP only thing I have done to it in the time I've owned it is a K&N air filter and oil change (non-synthetic waiting on more money for that lol) only owned it for a few months but would like to see more performance out of it, I am on a limited budget and don't have the slightest clue where to start. Also I know S/C's are supposed to create boost right off the bat but mine doesn't create any until its in gear and passed 1/2 throttle is that normal for these cars and is there any way to disable that bypass in it?

I'm more familiar with the W-body Monte Carlo's. More specifically the 2000-2007 Montes. But they should be very similar mechanically.

Something you might want to try is replacing the stock air box with a Cold Air Intake (CAI). And changing the exhaust. Some people go with a complete exhaust system change, from the downpipe all the way back. Including a high-flow cat. converter.

These are common first-time mods on the Monte's. And can be done in stages as funds come available.

I have the supercharged 3800 series II in my car. When I switched to full synthetic oil, I noticed a much smoother idle and better response when I hit the gas. But it's by no means a miracle worker. It's not going to magically give you tons of new horsepower. It'll give you a slight increase gas mileage and smoother running engine. But it is more expensive than standard oil. And once you put it in, you have to completely drain it out of the engine if you want to go back to non-sythetic.

You may want to check and see if the supercharger oil has ever been changed. People tend to forget about it.

There's lots of great advice on here, and you're only limited by your wallet.

You can mix different oils all you like.

People even mix different grades to get a formula that works better for their specific application.

That's good to know. I was told you couldn't mix non-synthentic and synthetic. Obviously I was mis-informed.

By the way. I didn't realize how old this thread was until after I posted.
