    Hello
I would like to upgrade to the GP GXP Bilstein struts
springs and wheels to a 2001 Regal LS

The Bilstein struts no problem on the part #
Can some body help with the factory # on the GPX springs
or are they the same as standard GP springs?

I guess its just a total bolt in no tricks like spacers or ??

IF Some one here has the struts and springs and wheels for sale
I would like to hear of them

thanks to all that read and reply

First front strut arrived today and says Bilstein so I am looking at the parts to complete this.
This part diagram shows it http://www.gmpartscenter.net/auto-pa...uspension-scat

I did notice the 5.3 has a right and left rear spring and different front springs.
No were do I see a part # for a strut bump stop.
Did they not come with one with the Bilstien struts ??
And any reason they have a right and left rear spring ?

Thank you for all that respond

    Regal Guy,

I'm about to install some brand new Bilstein GXP shocks on my 04 Regal GS. I also bought brand new front control arms (9C1), Dorman 34mm sway bar and brackets and drop links, KYB strut mounts, and hardware. I've already done a 9C1 front brake upgrade (twin piston calipers and larger rotors) and am retaining the stock 16" wheels. I'm keeping stock rear brakes as it's just extra weight. That front brake upgrade is the best upgrade so far!

Some more info: The springs on the front are exactly the same on the Regal as they are on the GXP (as well as many other GM cars).

BUMP STOPS ARE INTERNAL on the Bilsteins. If you haven't noticed, shock shaft is WAY bigger than OEM (appears to be hollow). The strut bellows essentially the same and can be swapped, they're just not blue like the originals - but you might have to use the top of the bump stop (cut) to keep the regular black strut bellow in place.

You can buy original blue strut bellows - front is GM 15245597 and rear is GM 15859254.

For standard black bellows, part numbers are Moog K90464 and K90464 for the bellows.

You should be able to use the stock rear springs.

I'll post up some pics and such after struts are on.

Thanks for your response I am sure you can use the stock springs but I wonder why from the 2 post GM shows R + L different rear springs for the GXP 5.3 with special suspension

And the same for the front springs a thicker spring more coils ? or ?

Pretty sure they will fit, but the gxp struts are probably stiffer due to the extra weight of the v8. why the springs look different is my guess.

If im not mistaken the ls4 is actually lighter then the 3800 which is a cast iron block. The stiffer suspension is due to the specific handling package the GXP has, the bilsteins only came on the GXP even though other cars were equipped with the LS4, they did not use the bilstein struts.

I think you are mistaken. The V8 appears to be about 30 lbs heavier than the SC 3800.

The LS4 itself is lighter than a L67, fully dressed. The GXP is heavier curb weight also. The front springs are the SAME on a GXP vs many other 3800 platform cars. The damping is a different story, as are the control arms and sway bar (aside from differences of mounting points).

So, some feedback on the GXP Bilstein install on the GS, hopefully it will be useful for someone. I did the install yesterday with some help. First road impressions are astonishing - the car is absolutely transformed. The car had rather worn out FE3 struts in it (one was almost totally blown), so the difference is very noticeable. I will say that the car is not upset by road imperfections, and that the traction and responsiveness over all surfaces is greatly improved. There is more road vibration transmitted but it is not intrusive. I am running Eagle RS-A Pursuit tires so they have a stiff sidewall. Coupled with the new strut mounts and 9C1 lower control arms, I'm not surprised there is a bit more noise.

The Bilstein dampers are WORTH EVERY PENNY!

    The car:
    04 Regal GS

    The new parts:
Bilstein GXP dampers at front and rear
    KYB strut mounts
    KYB front strut bearings
KYB strut mount hardware, insulators, etc.
    Moog strut boots
Dorman 34mm front bar (control arm mounted)
    Stock rear sway bar
    9C1 front control arms

    The reused parts:
Stock FE3 (TJA code) springs front and rear

Modifications I performed or parts left out:
Rear strut boots were a combo between Moog and OEM front boots (pics later)
All bump stops (new struts they are internal)

I used a single-action strut compressor for the rear components as the standard hook and bolt type don't fit. I recommend buying Harbor Freight item 43753. Link here: http://www.harborfreight.com/single-...sor-43753.html if you are going to do this work. Very nice tool and cuts down the time considerably. Also, have someone help you. Safer and easier.

I took lots of pictures to provide some references for others but this forum has terrible attachment interface.
