Today i was driving and my emergency brake light came on, i already knew what it was going to be, sure enough i poped the hood and the fluid was at an all time low. I checked around the wheels to see which S.O.B ss brake line was leaking and behold, it was the right front brake. I called zzp and they said i have to buy new ones, and then they will refund me later, thats nice and all but im broke . My question is are the googridge ones any better? If im going to have to take off lines again outside in 20* weather i want to make sure i wont have to do it again.

yh....ZZPs policy in situations like this are pretty bad, but I am sure they got screwed a few times and that is why they are like that. I don't have SS brake lines, but I can not remember reading 1 post where a goodrich brake line failed. This is not the first post that I read where a zzp ss brake line failed

Ya I guess the older ZZP SS brake lines are prone to breaking exactly like this. From what I've heard they started getting their SS lines from another manufacturer now, which are supposed to be a lot better.

Anyway imo stock lines are the way to go, mine have been working great so far. Screw spending $100 for some lines that will barely improve stopping performance and are prone to breaking. Your better off spending that $100 on better rotors or pads imo.

well i have f-body calipers and 12" powerslot rotors, i wonder if my stock lines would match up to the f-body calipers.

I had the Goodridge SS lines on my GT with the FBody setup and I loved them! I never had an issue with them! On my GTX I am running stock calipers with the 12" brackets and 12" front discs on Stock brake lines without issues. Though I am sure in the future I will be upgrading to FBody brakes with Goodridge SS lines.

I don't think you can go wrong with the Goodridge SS lines.

Just my 2cents on that topic.

How else would you like ZZP to handel this? They give a lifetime warenty on these items and if he had sent them in before they broke they would have replace them free too. You cant expect them tojust send out free brakelines to every person who claims to have broke one with no proof.

update: I checked all the lines a few days ago and they are all good. On another note there aren't any spots in the driveway from a leak, I have to add about 1/2 pint of fluid about every 2 days. My first thought was master cylinder, i looked all around and there aren't any leaks there either.

No comment on the ZZPee issues.

Regarding the "need" for SS brake lines - none. F-body upgrades don't come close to pushing the limits of the stockers. They do look nice though.

My front SS lines from ZZP which I bought in April '08 blew about 2 monts ago. I would think they would do something about the product they are selling if there is this much bad talk about them. Mine were apparantly too short even though I bought the 1" longer lines.
The reply I recieved was I had to return the old ones to get replacements or refund. I found some stock lines from another GM vehicle that were 3" longer than the SS lines, thanks to a dedicated Auto-Zone employee on a Sunday. I'm surprised ZZP isn't more pro-active about this considering the possible accidents that could occur. I'm waiting for a package from them as I write. I finally sent the bad ones back last week with a letter of concern for the product.

Just because I don't like the policy does not mean that I don't agree with it. I have been in the position before and it sucks. That is the only way to deal with situations like this.
