Just watched the how its made on the brembo disc ring. Says at the end the hat sections can be made of either aluminum or stainless. I think the front I would like to keep aluminum but wondering if i should go stainless for the rear. For one thing it will have to be a lot thicker block of raw material and a lot of waste will be produced in hollowing out the hat to accomadate the e brake. Also I think in an emergency situation aluminum would probably warp and cause damage if the car had to b stopped from any kind of a distance or speed. Any imput? Anybody know how much i should expect to pay for a block of aluminum?
I think the front blanks need to be about 3/4x10x10" rears I think are gonna need to be about 2.5x10x10...

I am thinking about that as a possibility for the front. I would prefer not to if i can avoid it. I will have to machine my own on the rear for sure. I did find out that the fronts are 6 piston as well as the rears however rear factory rotors on the z06 are 15.3 in. fronts are 15.5... dezebe any way u could find a part number for those rears? Just maybe they have a hat depth close enough to factory...
Why not jus use gt500 two piece rotors and CTs v with 6 piston fronts
Now the next question....have you realized how ****ty our suspension is? Not only that the ****ty body panels that flex from the suspension? If you don't do some type of re enforcement you're in for some trouble
I was thinking about possibly doing the cts-v 2 piece because they are supposed be coming out with carbon ceramic gt500 rotors BUT as far as i know the gt500 rotors are 14" that would mean using the cts-v 4 piston calipers right? Which is still probably plenty of setup in braking. I have also heard some talk of doing carbon ceramic rings for the cts-v 14.6 in rotors which would be the 6 piston. Awesome! Another but. Did some more research on the calipers that are made to go with the ceramic rotors and a lot goes into making them work well together (ceramic and silica coating on the pistons to reduce and almost eliminate heat transfer) so I dont think putting a 1500 dollar carbon ceramic disc under a caliper thats not made for it is going to be the right thing to do either. The whole point in spending this much money is unsprung, rotational weight reduction. Also doing it on all 4 should significantly increase handling. I really think the making the zr1 (or z28) brakes work with a close to factory specs as possible is the best way to go. As far as suspension goes I have the AGX coilover kit all the way around, GMPP rear sway bar, Rear strut tower brace, progress frnt sway bar, front strut tower brace, zzp chromoly Lower control arms, Diagonal braces, zzp chromoly trailing arms, Shortened billet dogbones, and poly everything. I would like to get somebody that knows a little better what they r doing to "tune" my susp but I think its ok for now.

I can check tomorrow for the Z/28 rear rotor for you as far as part numbers go. the pictures for the Corvette are a generic picture for the rear and actually show the same as the front. The rear is still only a 4 piston setup. What size rims will you be running to have enough clearance?

This video differentiates between fr and rear rotor size but doesnt say anything about the caliper... as far as wheels i am not sure yet. roommate works at 4 wheel parts told me to just throw an adapter on there and use the factory camaro or vette wheels but I wanna eventually get 500 whp with a 75 shot of NOS. Dont wanna do that with adapters so I really don't know yet... prob gonna have to buy custom wheels.
That camaro comes on 19's or 20's I wanna say if i remember right they were like 305/35r19 but could be wrong. Love that profile whatever it is.I definitly dont think I can fit 305 in my wheel well tho. unless I have like a 0 offset with a 4 inch lip. That would prob look pretty stupid tho unless I had some custom made fender flares to tuck those tires under something.
I wish I could get under that thing to take a look at how they do the emergency brake... looks from this side like the hat depth is the same as the front. There has to be some kind of drum ring mounted on the other side.
Just got off the phone with Brembo race technologies. He said he could make me a custom big break setup but he said if they did they would still put steel rotors on it. It would basically be a slightly modified gt-r setup. No on getting blank center hats but I will keep looking. I am contemplating going to autozone and getting a couple factory rotors and cutting them the hell up to get a working "prototype" of a hat section. It's obviously not the right material but I think it could work. I would essentially shave the disc portion of the rotor down to about an eigth of an inch then take the outside edge of the ring down to perfectly inside the recess of the carbon disc ring then trace the bolt holes from the aluminum hat to the factory grand prix disc and boom! Should be g2g!
Missing the point of aftermarket hats. There made of light weight strong steel or aluminum. Not good Old cast iron. Seriously just buy a gt500 hat. And rotor. Save at least 10 lbs A side and be happy. Also think about your abs system will nto be able to Utilize brake force correctly.
I know cast iron sucks but if I can get a working design in cast iron I think it will b a lot easier to produce something in stainless or aluminum. I have no idea if abs will work still. I hope so but I dono. Has anyone ever tried to modify our wheel bearings? I have a bunch sitting around. Might try that. Also has anyone ever tried putting zr1 or any 5x120 factory wheel bearing in a grand prix?
Ok. That would have been nice. When u drilled the CTS v rotor hat to fit your set up I saw it looks like you just over drilled existing holes right? I know I would not be able to do that on the wheel bearings but could I drill the 5x120 pattern in the middle of the existing 5x115 holes or would that compromise the structural integrity of that plate?
Of coarse wheel bearings inc closes at noon on fridays! Must b nice!
