I have signal to the obd2, but when I use the scanner to read the abs codes it says the abs has no signal
ive used it before on other vehicles for abs, its not a cheap scanner its a mac tools cant remember the part number right now though
yeah, thats a good one. it should work.
im guess is your abs lights are on. being it cant communicate maybe its a bad ebcm?
maybe unplug the plugs clean grease em, see if the the lights go off? or if it will scan then.
that was my though as well, I haven't looked into where the bcm is any tips??
yes the abs t/c and stability track lights all come up. also the brake light is on as well.
ps the scanner is a matco tools enhanced scan advisor md1072
OK thank you for the help. I will look into that. Tired of having to clear all the codes before getting info off the dic, But hey the car is in the Christmas spirit with all the lights on the dash haha.
I was thinking the bcm, u are referring the ebcm which is on the front of the brake master cylinder right?
Well from what I've been reading it says if a scanner can not communicate with the abs it's almost 99% of the time a bad ebcm. Looks like there is a few places to get it rebuilt for around $100
Before you buy a new EBCM, you might want to try this:
Find the wire that goes from the ABS module to the chassis of the car. Disconnect it where it connects to the car, check for corrosion. Clean up any corrosion from the connector and the chassis. Put it all back together with some dielectric grease.
I had a very similar problem on my 04 Impala, cleaning up the ground connection fixed the issue.
Good deal, I will definitely try that before I drop any more money lol. Thanks
i've got the same problem. snap on scanner won't communicate with the abs . still got air in the system we think and can't get the scanner to bleed the module because it won't connect.
where's a good (cheap) place to get them rebuilt ? master module wants $160....myairbags.com is $69 ...anybody know if they're legit ? that's a big price difference.
