I have a 40th GP GT, with 188,000 miles. Lowered car at 100,000 miles with Eibach lowering springs, KYB AGX struts, new strut top plates, shortened (black) dog bones, anti pogo washers, engine and trans mount spacers, engine and trans poly mounts. Also, GMPP sway bar, F-body brakes, new tie rods, ball joint, control arm bushings. And last year new installed front Moog wheel bearings.

PROBLEM: for the past 8000 miles, I can hear a constant low growl or whirling noise, and noise level increases when turning wheels left or right. More noise when turning right.
Everyone says the front wheel bearings are worn out and possibly the rear bearings could be blamed for the noise also. I just installed new wheel bearings in back of car at about 3000 miles. Noise still exists.
Removed Moog front wheel bearings to double check for wear and they are ok.
This noise definitely is in front end of car, it does sound like worn out wheel bearing noise. Can hear it well at slow speeds up to 40 mph with windows closed.
Then, when going into a turn, low growl or whirling noise increases. The faster I drive into a turn, the more noise there is.
The noise is there when turning whether I am pressing on brake pedal or not.
When driving straight, there is still a low growl, but not as bad as when turning.
Also, made sure all wheel lug nuts are tightened to specs.
The drivers side axle was replaced once. Passenger side is original.
Do you think one or both axles are bad?
Also, read on another car forum that the area where the axles go into the trans could be worn and that can cause the noise when turning.

Any thoughts about what to check next?

    It's a bearing.

It doesnt have to have movement to be bad. Jack the front end up and throw the car in N, then spin the tire fast by hand while holding the spring on the strut. If you feel any sort of vibration, that is a wheel bearing. Everything you are discribing is a wheel bearing in my eyes.

Yes, Fivefingerdeathpunch, the issue was with the front passenger side bearing. Thanks for telling me to check this. I was in denial that there was an issue with the bearing.
With the front of the car in the air, I took the wheel as it was still mounted and applied pressure side to side and top to bottom. There was so much play in the wheel it was although the lug nuts were halfway loosened. I could not believe it as I have rotated and switched out the wheels with other ones many times. I never bothered to do this simple check.
I was believing the front wheel bearings could not be the problem due to them only having 30,000 miles or so on them. Wow, was I ever wrong. These front bearings were made by Moog and installed in October of 2012 with 150k miles on the odometer.
So, no wonder I was getting all the noise as you said I was describing.
Luckily, I had another front bearing and I put that bearing on the car and took it for a drive. Obviously, no more noise.
I noticed that there was lots of wear on the inside tread of the tire. Fortunately, the tires are old and need replaced anyways.
I stopped by the store where I purchased the Moog bearings and was told I could return them for new ones, but need the sales slip.
I plan on buying a new bearing to install on the front in the near future.
Just can't believe I was having an issue with the bearing after just 30,000 miles.
Someone on FB said the problem is cheap Korean steel that is being used in the manufacturing of front replacement bearings.
Another said it is due to the bearings heating up on long drives on the highway and then hitting deep bumps or raised portions of the road on bridge decks which cause the bearing material to actually start to break down.
A mechanic at a local GM dealer said to purchase the original equipment bearing from GM and it should last longer. What a joke? These cost over $300 and may not last as long as Timkin, Moog or any others.
It will just be a fact of life to keep checking the bearings on the car and replace as needed.

^^^^Isn't this the sad truth. And for how much they cost it's just ridiculous that they wear out so fast.... at least I have lifetime replacement on mine. Still is a waste of a couple hours every time they gotta be changed.

Spend $100 get a Moog from advance and have a 3 year warranty. Keep the receipt in the glovebox in a envelope so that way if you ever have issue it's a easy exchange. I do this plus I order online so I always have the order in my old email account.

yes, 30,000 miles on front bearings. Very sad.
In my old '97 GP that I drove till 170k miles, only 1 front bearing ever went bad in that car. My younger brother has a '99 GP with all original bearings and there is no sign of wear with any of them.
Good advice about keeping the receipt, as the auto parts store where I bought the Moog bearings will allow me to return them, so I will not be out any $$$.
What is the best brand of wheel bearings for our cars?
