So I have been driving all winter with no Power steering. It's not horrible. But ready to fix it. How do I tell if it's the pump or rack? Pump was making a whining noise. But not anymore. S

Is the fluid full? If you can still turn the wheel both directions smoothly (same amount of effort both directions), then I'd doubt it's the rack. When they fail they typically get so stiff that you cannot steer, especially to the left.

What was original problem, fluid leak? If you drove all winter without fluid you will need a pump plus fix the leak.

Had fluid. Fluid got boiled basically. When having fun in parking lot. Got lots of air in the system. Went to work right after cause it was whinning and flushed the fluid with new. And it is full. Lost it like 5 days after flush. Always was full. And it's pretty hard to steer. But easier since it's snowwy

if your driving the car with no power to the steering, if the rack wasn't dead and the cause, its dead now.

never drive with no power steering, the rack always pays the price.
