I've got an '05 Grand Prix and out of nowhere, my power steering failed. No noise, no leaks, nothing out of the ordinary except it feels like manual steering now. The pump is full and the fluid is not discolored or burnt. Not sure if there are any check valves that could be sticking or what. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Yes. Completely feels like pump failure, but as I said earlier, no leaks, noise, nothing.

    Is the fluid moving?

I know its hard to see back there, but is it being moved by the pump. A rare case is that the shaft inside as broke in two.

when the shafts break on the trucks you can take the belt off and pull the pulley right out of the pump by hand.
do you hear the pressure relief valve blow off when turned to the stops? It can only be the pump or the rack...pumps are cheap/racks expensive...so which one would you change first?

Got it. I'm gonna go pull the belt and check the pump shaft first, then move forward. Thanks to all of you!
