So ive been reading n reading the last week or so and decided im going to make some coilovers for next season. Winter is the perfect time for me to make them since im in construction and take winters off.
Ive read how to's over n over again and have a pretty good parts list going on right now. Pretty much gonna start with the fronts first. I see I need to switch out my lcas and sway bar, and will need a bracket for the rear sway bar.
Im just going to go with the gr2s and probably 10 inch springs with the 2.17 5 inch sleeves from summit. Seeing how all you need is modified tops and to grind the perch off, they seem fairly easy.
So my questions are, is the only difference for longer sleeves so you can adjust up higher, and will the 5 inch sleeve be fine?
Also I was thinking of just leaving the rear sway bracket in tact and resting the sleev le on top of that so I dont need that bracket. Id weld some more support on that bracket of course, so is that possible or should I just buy 97-03 struts so the sway bar brackets arent even there and make a bracket out of angle iron?
Ive emailed intense and arraut asking if I can just buy modified tops and the brackets but probably wont hear back untill this upcoming week. And I figured a 10 inch spring is not too big nor small, because ive seen a couppe guys buy 12s and it doesnt go low enough. Also thinking of basics, 400 in front and 350 in rears.
Just looking for reviews and opinions of what you guys learned and came across mak8ng your own and dealing with coilovers. Im pretty excited and want it done for this years wbody meet in june so I have plenty of time. Thanks in advance.
