As stated in the title my ABS and Trac Off light comes on at the same time. Usually when i make a turn. not every time but at least a couple times a week. It ll make a Ernnnt like noise on the turn and then sometimes if i am breaking while turning and it does it my brake will studder and i can feel it in the pedal like my ABS is kicking on as if im sliding. Or those lights will come on if i back up to fast and turn (and its not even fast) Or even while driving slow or if i go out of a driveway little to fast or hit a nasty bump. My dad seems to think it is a sensor in one of the HUBS or a the brain box. I also have read online that it could be a fuse but idk about that

Sounds like a sensor in one of the hubs.

A scanner that can read ABS codes can tell you what one it might be.

but why does it cause the Trac to turn off. are they wired into the same thing? And does my ABS light have to be on to scan. Cause like i said it does not always happen. but it occurs more often now

    No abs, no traction control.

Its just like if you were to hit trac off and you were gunna race or take off real quick like and have the wheels spin. The front 2 would be faster than the rear 2 and because you turned trac off the abs system/traction system wouldnt bud in and stop it.

Both are linked, and the computer will have saved the fault codes, so you don't have to have the light on to see which wheel it was.

hubs going bad on w bodys is a very common thing.

jack your car up lugs tight, grab the top of the tire, then firmly push and pull, if you feel play the hub is bad. test all 4 wheels.

if your brother has a abs scanner, he can scan it and know for sure whats wrong.

Hey Gents, thanks for discussing this. I have a 2003 and have had the same problem recently. Of course it wouldn't do it for my mechanic and the lights wouldn't come on but they are now.
He guessed it might be a sensor because the brakes and front hubs have been replaced. It's just weird that you had to be going slow and usually turning for this to happen..
    Thanks again,

test your hubs, ( like posted above ) take the back plugs off the rears and clean them, grease them, put them back on, sometimes thats all it needs.

if cheap hubs were used they dont last more then a year sometimes, stick with good name brands with a 3 year warranty. aka pay more. its worth it when talking hubs.

Alright I just changed my hub but my lights won't go off... It drives me crazy. I've gone to auto zone to try and get the codes cleared but they won't clear it because of liability crap. I tried unplugging my battery and everything... How does this come off

to scan abs you need another scanner, most of the time the free scanner wont pull abs codes. some newer car it will tho.

you need to go to a garage and have it scanned, they will charge you but its better then guessing.

it wont clear till its fixed. once its fixed it will turn off all by its self asap.

it occurs when you going slow because the signal amplitude or "strength" generated by the sensor is weaker at slower speeds. One signal is dropping out at slow speeds and the ebcm (ABS module) thinks that wheel is locking up...so it cycles the dump valve to that hydraulic line for that wheel.

When turning. the signal may drop out because of bad wheel speed sensor or wss wiring; the wiring flexes slightly as the wheels are steered. The abs wiring itself is specially designed Angel hair wiring; a very fine type of wiring with many strands that is designed to flex. Regular stranded copper wiring will not do this and will fail quickly if spliced into areas that flex.

Upon reassembling my engine bay, I now too have this issue.

At first, the ABS controller kept running (clicking), even with they key off, for over an hour.

Turns out I forgot to tighten down a grounding bolt (by the battery, under the fuse relay box).

It stopped clicking, but my ABS and TRAC OFF lights are still on (also causing my check gauges light to light up in my HUD.

You have to clear the ABS before these lights will turn off. I *think* all I need to do now is just reset the ABS (which will clear said lights).

How do you do it? I don't know.

    Google incoming.

once again, you cant clear a abs light or trac off light, it needs to be fixed to go off. once its fixed, the lights will go off asap.
