Thread: Will a 04+ GP rack fit in a 98

So my main question as the title says is will an 04+ rack fit in a 98. If not then do all 97-03 racks interchange. Thanks

id check the part #'s. look the rack up for both years, see if they match.

some cars have magna steer, others dont, so you'll want to look for a wire and plug leading from the area where the column bolts to the rack.

if you have a wire, you have magna steer, no wires, its a plain rack.

Alright ill heck for the wire on my car. So what does magnasteer do? Is it like a type of SAS or does it just provide extra steering assist

Variable power assist. More at slower speeds and less at higher speeds. There's a good post describing it somewhere on these forums.

Well its a known that the Gxp rack fits in the 97-03 so I can't imagine it being a issue
