Car – 2000 Grand Prix GT
    Mileage – 165,526mi

So the other day my dad was standing near my driver’s side front wheel and I went to back up. I put the car in reverse and then turned to say something to him. He then looked at me and says "Does it always make a clicking noise?" I simply replied "yes" as it had been doing it for some time now so I didn't even realize it anymore. He then said I should get out and check it out. So I get next to it and he puts the car into drive and switches back to reverse after a few seconds and keeps doing it while I do my best to track the source of the click. Every time it gets shifted to reverse from park and then to drive and back and forth there is a relatively loud click. I could hear it inside the car but just assumed it was tranny related. I checked the passenger side but it didn't make a loud click like the driver’s side. Now another thing that I have noticed is that going 68mph down the highway after about 40mins or so the car likes to develop a shudder. Then under acceleration it will get worse and when I let off and coast it’ll be normal again. Then it will come back. I know it is not a tire/ wheel issue as I’ve had 2 different sets do it and when I rotated them it still persisted. Also when accelerating on a ramp that curves to the right there will be a vibration.

I have done some poking around and it seems that the majority of people point to either tie rod or CV joint. I’m leaning towards CV joint but realize that I am no master mechanic so it could very well be something else. Any help is appreciated!

If part of the vibration is there on acceleration and then gone once you let off, thats a CV shaft problem.

I would say you should replace it.

Whats the best replacement replacement brand? AC Delco or is there a cheaper and better alternative?
