Thread: Poly sway bar bushings

I want to upgrade my bushings from junk rubber to some poly.
I checked out Energy Suspension Parts Dealer, Specializing in Energy Suspension Bushings Suspension Components. and I came up with this
Front bar - 191130 Prothane Universal Sway Bar Bushings - 3/4 Inch - B
Rear bar - 9.5122_Rear Energy Suspension Rear Sway Bar Bushings - 18mm
I have a 20mm front bar and the only thing close enough that was non greasable was the 3/4" bushing.
I have an 06 gt btw. If anyone has done this before (Im sure you have) what parts did you use and what not else?

No these are actual bar bushings not end links. I have already done moog end links front and rear. My end links connect to the strut so I cant get poly links.
Its easy to find bushings for the 97-03 gps but mine 04+ so I want to know if anyone has done this

I've been researching this some too and plan on going with the energy suspension bushings. From what I can tell as long as you have the right diameter they will work with your bar.

If you were looking for a 20mm one I found this. All i did was google energy suspension 20mm bushing.

I just did one this past weekend on my 2003. The stock bracket had snapped off. My 2003 has a 33mm bar, but I used a 31mm because the local parts store had it in stock.

Few things to consider:

1) Jack the car up in the middle, not on the side. This will remove tension from the bar. Be safe and use jack stands.

2) Be careful you do not snap the bolts taking the old one off. Think about how ugly it would be to snap a bolt off in the hole. Use some penetrating oil and work it back and forth to loosen the grim and rust on the bolt. When you reinstall, torque it down correctly. I used anti-seize on my threads in case it needs to be serviced again.

3) The energy star bracket I used was a universal fit with a bolt slot rather than single hole so the bracket will work in many cars. The bracket comes with some pretty small washers. I placed some larger diameter washers to cover the slot and make it more rigid.

4) Follow the instructions and grease it before you put it on.

The diameter works but for the front the bracket bolts are more than 2 7/8" apart and you cant use the stock bracket with these poly bushings, I have tried. You will need the bracket with the max spacing at 3 5/8". Thats the only problem, nothing with the 3 5/8" spacing comes in a 20mm. I would rather use a smaller bushing than larger. kinda obvious tho
3/4" is the closest I can find with the right bracket

What about those. According to the energy suspension website they're 20.5mm and the largest spacing they have.

Im not sure if the 20.5mm would be a tight enough fit. I ordered a 19mm (on accident) for my rear 18mm bar and it was loose. That bushing however is only .5mm bigger so who know maybe that .5 would work. I ges the only way of knowing if that one will fit is if someone contacts the manufacturer.
