My wife's 05 GP GT has an intermittent anti-lock brake issue going on. You know what it sounds like when it is icy out and you come to a stop sign and the pedal goes to the floor and it makes that noise as the pedal is going to the floor? It does this on occasion at low speeds when coming to a stop in a parking lot, etc. Short of taking it in to the mechanic, anyone know what the root of this problem might be? FYI - There are no check lights or messages on the info showing up when this happens so I can't scan it with my OBD.

    Thanks - Mike

id start with checking the fluid level in the master cylinder, if thats good, then try bleeding the brakes, if you find no air in the lines, and the pedal is going to the floor, the master cylinder is probably shot or taking a slow death.

if the brakes seem to work better if you pump them while stopping, like the pedal gets firmer, the master is defiantly shot.

and then you can also take the tires off and check the pads for wear.

So this condition is still going on. The car stops fine, nice firm pedal, and the pedal does not go to the floor, it just goes down a little bit but you definitely hear and feel that anti-lock mechanism working. We recently had the brakes done all 4 corners this winter. New rotors, F-Body upgrade for the calipers, Hawk Performance pads (yellow), stainless steel brake lines, brake fluid replaced with new. This is my wife's car so I don't drive it all the time and haven't noticed this happening for a while but last night I felt it 2 or 3 times within a half hour of driving it. You would think if it was a sensor, the ABS light would come on? You still think this could be the master cylinder slow death syndrome Scotty???

unplug a hub, ( or pull the abs fuse) that will make the abs light come on and make it not work, see if it still acts up with no abs.
