My 2000 GTP's struts are shot, I need to replace all four. I do NOT want anything special, just some struts comparable to the factory ones. I'm looking to spend as little as I can but of course I'll spend a little extra if need be.

My local auto parts stores sell the strut assemblies complete, but for over $100 each. I don't want to spend that much. Has anyone gotten these from ebay, and what is your experience with them? Buick Chevy Pontiac Front Rear Strut Shock Absorber Kit Set of 4 New | eBay

I'm also in need of wheel bearings for the front (I believe) because my ABS light is on- I'm figuring it's from a wheel speed sensor. Are the speed sensors replaceable, or do I need to change the entire wheel bearing?

If I need the whole wheel bearing, I was looking at these wheel bearings, decent? Chevy Pontiac w ABS Front Wheel Hub Bearing Pair Set Assembly | eBay

    Thanks fellas.

no clue on the struts, but you want to buy a good wheel bearing, in the 100 dollar range. or you can count on buying another one to change the cheap new in 6 months or less.

i used a timkin when mine went bad, like 120 ish.

you get what you pay for in the end. better to pay more and get a quality part vs cheap china stuff.

Well considering they seem to be a 'eBay' brand you'll probably be taking a chance. Haven't heard of anyone using those however kyb gr2/excels are within that price range and several have used those without any problems. Great alternative.

for $100 each for the struts you could get kyb gr-2's and a set of lowering springs and new strut mounts and it would still be cheaper than $100 each.

Kyb gr2. Reuse stock springs/boots. New mounts and have a nice ride. As the saying goes you get what you pay for. Kyb >eBay all day

I don't want to lower my car, should I get the KYB GR2's from ZZP with the strut mount plates? Would I need anything else or do I just throw my stock springs on the KYB's?

you can put your stock springs on them. Don't buy from zzp they would be more expensive just google the struts and your car.

Not finding any cheaper ones, I'll probably hold out until black friday when they have their sales. I need a downpipe from them also.

Anyone else have info on wheel bearings? Can the speed sensors be changed?

Zzp Black Friday sale is a hit or miss. They announce the items at different times and often only have a free items that are discounted and take awhile to shop your item. This is based off how it's been over the last few years so don't depend on it to much. eBay or amazon search with the part# for the struts and you should be able to get them around $220 or so if not cheaper.

the wheel bearings are a sealed unit, speed sensor and bearing all in one.

That sounds pretty awful, I'll be out of town so I don't think I'm going to be sitting on my computer waiting for the sales I want...

Yea you never know it could always change but I stopped depending in their sales since it usually ended up being a disappointment. I rather order before the whole BF fiasco or go elsewhere.

Total cost from amazon for the KYB's and strut plates is $284.17 shipped rather than ZZP's $359.99 + shipping. My springs don't seem to be sagging so it looks like that'll be the final cost. Guess I'll have to get it over with since my car really needs it.

Zzp= fail..most items you can get off eBay or amazon or even through advance for cheaper. I try to save a buck when I can buy when it comes to certain items ill spend more for quality so you avoid the headache of one failing and having to warranty and change them out again.

Exactly. So I'll be getting the KYB's. Don't feel like spending $200 just to have my abs working, so I'll pass on the wheel bearings since they don't make noise or shake. We'll see how it goes in the Michigan winter though lol. I just NEED to get a downpipe though, mines leaking and obnoxious and I'd like to get rid of KR.

I'd like the exhaust noise to be as minimal as possible and would rather not spend the extra money. My goals for the car are to make it a reliable daily driver. Selling my 2000 Camaro SS in the spring to get into a C5 Z06, would rather put the money into that instead.

Headers won't make it much louder then stock and cost as much if not less than a downpipe. Last time I checked SD headers run about $200ish and will help the knock more than a downpipe would. I haven't checked the prices of downpipes in awhile though.

    Yes, and they leak/fitment issues.

Just get a downpipe and call it a day.
