Thread: Question about Changing Brake Line

My rear right brake line broke on my 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP on the part where it snakes up by the gas tank and i replaced that part by unscrewing it from the rubber tube connecting to the caliper and unscrewing it where it connects to the line that goes up to the master cylinder. Well some sort of vibration from taking out that part of the brake line caused the other part of the brake line to spring a leak. So now I have to replace the whole line that goes up to the master cylinder. Now my two questions are as follows:
1. What are the arrangements of brake lines on the actual master cylinder? (I know it says on the master cylinder but i just want to confirm them)

2. Is there a special wrench size to take off the brake lines from the master cylinder? (I tried a 12mm and an 11mm and the 12 was too big and the 11 was too small)

Also make sure if you use a new fitting on the new line going into the master cylinder that you get the same thread as the old one. On my 97 i used to have i looked at one and thought they were all the same. Ended up stripping out the master cylinder because there are different threads on every other fitting. It wasnt like that on my 2000 i have now, so idk if your car will be like that or not. Just something to watch out for.
