I have just the ABS light on on my 99 Grand Prix GT. I replaced the front wheel bearings and the light is still on. Wheel bearings needed replaced anyways, so not a big deal. But after reading all these posts about having the ABS light and No Traction Light both on, can the EBCM still be bad with just the ABS light on? I know I should get it scanned, but the car is not streetable right now. I bought it a police auction and am basically rebuilding the thing. Not to mention its not tagged or insured. The ABS light is the last light I have to fix. Anyways, thanks guys.

Yes it sure can be bad and have just the ABS light on. When mine went bad, sometimes it was just the ABS light sometimes it was coupled with the TCS light. It just all depends.

I recommend getting it scanned and going from there, perhaps you replaced the wrong wheel hub.

Also want to add that while my Traction Light isn't on, the Traction on/off button doesn't do anything at all. Light won't come on by pushing it. Also, I replaced both front wheel bearing hubs.

The traction control system is controlled inside the EBCM.

What I'm saying is you have 4 speed sensors that are inside each wheel, and even if the bearing itself may not be bad, the sensor inside of it can. And the only way to find out exactly where the problem may be is to scan it and see which sensor may be bad. If you can't get the scanner to read anything, then the EBCM is probably bad.

Went ahead and bought an ABS rebuild. If it needs rebuilding, then it should fix the problem. If not, only out shipping.
