Re: ABS/Traction/Brake lights on
Those annoying lights will make me crazy, and I just HAVE to have everything as designed. (anal, I guess) I will reinstall my perfectly good EBCM tonight, and begin the annoying wire wiggling process. If all else fails, it will be going to the dealer for a scan. Still really wish someone knew something about those relays mounted to the EBCM bracket.......
Re: ABS/Traction/Brake lights on
Anybody know what those relays are for???? More on that Disconnect and ground out the battery cables too. What exactly does that do??????
Re: ABS/Traction/Brake lights on
taking the cables off and touching them together just drains the system of power, once the pcm has no power for around 20 to 30 minutes it will reset. if your check engine light was on, it will now be gone till the pcm detects a problem again. if you didn't fix the problem, the cel will come back on with in hours or days, depending on whats wrong.
i will also add in no way shape or form will this reset a abs code. abs codes just need to found and repaired, no other way of making the light go off. or resetting it.
unless you have a abs scanner, but even then the light will come on as soon as you drive the car if no repairs have been made.
Re: ABS/Traction/Brake lights on
I have a similar issue. I have a 06 GT with almost 59k miles. I drive it nice and easy and today the ABS acted up and a few minutes later the ABS and Traction lights came on. Took it to Autozone and pulled codes P0564, P2162 and P0572. Hopefull this thread and some others can help me out. Ive always had older base model cars and finally got something newer that I wanted and don't know where to start.
Re: ABS/Traction/Brake lights on
Pulled the wheels one more time, prior to the car Dr. visit. (Really hate taking it in) Noticed right rear caliper was leaking a little. noticed brake fluid level dropping over the past month or two, but attributed to brake wear. I topped it off a few times. Anyway, figured I would replace the caliper prior to the dealer replacing, as I know they would insist prior to diagnosing. Well, still waiting for a caliper. PepBoys, Autozone, Advance, A&A, Napa, no one had one. Special order dont you know. CeeKay auto said they had one. Drove 40 miles, took the core with me, caliper looked right, installed, and the brake line bolt was a fine thread, instead of a coarse. Took it back, my original already shipped out to rebuild land (China). They couldn't get another one within a week, and couldn't give me a core refund, because I didn't have a core!!(No kidding, you took it! OH, no box either?. No, you put my core in it!) They refunded the caliper, minus the 60.00 core, and said they would find my core someplace. Now, no caliper, leaking or otherwise. Autozone ordered an 04, 05, and 06, and we will see if they fit. Maybe the slow leak could be tripping the lights?? We'll see tomorrow.....
Re: ABS/Traction/Brake lights on
Well, turned out the 05 had an 04 caliper. Replaced, bled all brake lines, and it didn't help the light issue. Still have a U1040 code, and another concerning the theft deterrent system. Finally got it to the dealer . They found EBCM pins 12 & 15 open, no ground. They traced it down, and found a ring terminal broke on the trans. somewhere. Replaced it, and all is well. (130.00) Funny thing is the same dealer replaced the trans about 18 months ago. Don't know how this terminal could possible just "break" from normal driving. However, if your pulling a trans........... Anyway, might be a good spot to look if anyone has similar issues...........
Re: ABS/Traction/Brake lights on
those grounds are bolted to the trans bolt that has a stud on it to bolt the grounds to, so it could have been on its way, but there no doubt at all that they did touch it. they have to to remove the trans.
i dont see how they are charging you, was this a warranty trans job?
Re: ABS/Traction/Brake lights on
It was not a manufacturer warranty, it was the extended warranty through the dealer that I purchased when I bought the car in 2007. The warranty ran out about 1 month after they did the trans job. Anyway, I mentioned it to the "Service Adviser" who kinda shrugged his shoulders. I'm sure I'd get something on the order of " 18 months and no problem? We don't know who else was fiddling around in there since, sorry" Oh, and only reason it was 130.00, I happened to have a coupon for 40.00 off service!
Re: ABS/Traction/Brake lights on
i'd look at it like the trans cost 130,00 then, cause i really think they should have covered that being that they touched it.
we're talking about a 10 cent wire ring installed soldered on a wire, and re bolted to a stud.....
