I own a 2000 Grand Prix GT 3.8 V6 with Hankook Optimo tires[Less than 5,000 miles on them currently] which were mounted to othe old rims[from a 2007 Mustang, rims were taken from the Mustang at about 15,000 miles, and have been through about 35,000 miles since] 6 months ago.

Two days ago I noticed an odd clicking in my drivers side front wheel well area. I checked the treads for debris, and they are clear all the way around. I also checked for anything stuck in the wheel well general area, and it is also clear of obstructions/debris.

I exited the vehicle and observed the tire rotating on the ground as it traveled. It makes a distinct click-click, click-click. The clicks always occur at the same position on the tire. For a good description, if it clicks with the K[In Hankook] at the 12:00 potition, the other click will occur when the tire has rotated counter-clockwise and the K is now in the 7 or 8:00 position.

The click is audible at speeds under around 30mph, at which time the motor or wind will overcome it.

What are your thoughts on this? Any feedback and/or similar experience is appreciated.

Regarding the CV axle suggestion, it SEEMS like the noise is contained to the wheel, doesn't SEEM to be coming from behind it. Tomorrow I am going to jack it up and turn it by hand unloaded and see if it clicks. Will let you know what I find out if I can't figure it out.

I lean away from this being the case, I had that one replaced less than 10,000 miles ago.

Driving it to my garage in a few, wish me luck.
