I have a 97 gt that feels like the rear end wants to step out to the side when I go over bumps or down bumpy roads. I'm thinking its the rear sway bar, i'm gonna jack the car up and I need an idea of what to look for back there. Or do I need to take the bar off to know if thats the problem.

dog trackin arnt we.....the sway bar wouldnt have too much to do with that its main job is to aid body roll....check your trailing arms and linkage to your knuckles make sure all is nice and tight

I'll slide under there and give it a once over. Should I put the whole rear end up on jack stands or just jacking up one side will do.

Car has a few miles on it so some new struts and springs might be needed. Should I get some from the local brick and mortar store or do you know of some place online that I can get a good deal?

Yah I wont slide under the car with just a jack without throwing a few spare tires or rims under the body lol.

Jacked the car up today the right trailing arm was a little bent and twisted. Ordered some trailing arms from rockauto thx to the guy that suggested that site pretty cheap. Hopefully that fixes the problem. I'm thinking it should seeing as how the car would only step out to the right side when going over ruts or bumps on the road.
