Just figured I'd post this up in case anyone has a similar issue. I was hearing a cyclical clicking / metal squeaking noise coming from my driver side front wheel when the steering wheel was centered, or turned up to about 90 degrees clockwise. It would rarely happen when turning to the left.
Took the wheel off today and looked into it a bit further. There's some sort of clip at the 6 o'clock position on the back of the hub that comes into contact with the rotor. One side of the clip was against the rotor while the other was floating. So I bent the rubing side away, and the sound is now gone.
On the passenger side wheel, I noticed this clip is flush with the rotor, and doesn't make any noise. What is the purpose of this clip, and is it worth replacing/fixing?
