Hey guys, I've been having trouble with my TCS/ABS. the TCS light stays on almost constantly, and the ABS light turns on and off intermittently. From what I've read, I think it might be a wheel speed sensor on its last legs? any other simple causes before I go have it diagnosed?

you need a new wheel bearing, you will need to use a scanner that can read ABS codes to figure out which wheel it is.

Where can I go to put a scanner on it without it costing me a huge diagnosis fee?

Got any buddies with car scanners?

Some models can read them, otheriwse try and find a mom and pop shop that may have a scanner, they are normally cheapest to go too.

Im havin this same issue and had it last winter. Mine was because the snow and ice buildup in the wheel well (something that you people from florida dont have to deal with) caused the wire going into the plug from the wheel side to break. It worked on and off (probly cause it was loose for a while) and then eventually the lights always stayed on. I soldered the wire back into the plug and it worked for 8-9 months before we got winter weather again causing it to pull apart again. (Im assuming because i didnt have time to look at it and when i have it is cold and i dont wanna have to take off the wheel to look).

Its best to get it replaced probly but i dont like having to spend alot of money on things. lol

Took it to a small shop who scanned it for free, and boy am I in for a ride.. it came up with codes C0244, C0550, and C0896. according to the shop tech, these codes designate a failing EBCM and the shop's owner told me right off the bat I'm looking at around $1,150. but as the lights are intermittent, could it be a wiring fault instead?

Hard to tell. If I were you I would jack up the car and take off the wheels on both sides and inspect the wiring from the hub for any broken wires. Most likely if a wire were broke that is were I think it would be due to the amount of debris flying around in the wheel wells. It may be possible that you have a rusted or corroded connection someplace too. If you cant find anything then you could probly get it replaced.

Looks like it's going to be an EBCM replacement. I've seen recommendations for module master? anybody have direct experience with them? also, if I pull the EBCM, will the car be drive-able as it is my only mode of transportation.

I got one from a junk yard for $75. Yes you can remove the module part and still drive the car.

I bought one specific to my year make and model so no it didn't need programmed. Look on car-part.com. It's listings of the local junkyards.
