The sway bar on my 98 GT is broken and I got another one from a scrap yard. After removing the bolts and links, can I just slide out from it's location or does the engine have to be raised or the cradle lowered?
Thanks,
Ian

slide it out, with a twist. you can support the cradle and unbolt the 2 back cradle bolts like 2 inches, and lower the frame a bit, so you can get to the back bolt on the drives side more easily if you like or just do the slow bolt turn like you did to get it off. watch the brake lines there.
Or just take one wheel off, disconnect the end link and the tie-rod end (mark where the nut is so you put it back where it was) and slide the bar out on that side, easy... I did it through the passenger side. Go for Energy Suspension Poly Bushings and Poly End Link Bushings... you'll be happy you did!
Thank you, I'm happy it will slide out without too much trouble. For the time being, I'm using the original bushings and mounting hardware. I might go with lowering springs in the next couple of months, if I do, I'll swap out all the old bushings at the same time.

1. If you lower the rear of the subframe, it'll take you half the time.
2. You can do it w/o lowering or taking off the tierod. I've never touched a tie rod to swap a bar.
3. While you are there, if you are ever going to mod the car, point the center bump downward instead of up. This will put you in a good place if headers ever go on the car.
All it takes is practice. I have done about 5 sways and it takes me 15 minutes on jackstands on the street. I've never lowered the subframe.
Thanks all for the info, I'll do it this weekend.

Ok next question....Just read on another forum that you should unhook the steering linkage before dropping the cradle. Guess what....I didn't know that and just dropped the cradle to get the bar out. Any ideas how bad I screwed up?
