this seems to be a good thread on a strut tower repair, however i have not had the need to do it myself. I have replaced the rockers however. I'm not sure if they make a replacement rocker that you can weld on... maybe look into that. I fabricated my own rockers out of sheet metal. I used a sheet metal break and a roller to form them. i made each in two pieces and then welded them together to make them long enough as it is easier to work shorter sections than to try and work one large piece. remove as much rust as possible WITHOUT removing the flange on the bottom of the car where the rocker meets the unibody, and leaving at least 1/4 inch below the door jams to weld to. the bottom flange was welded together using plug welds. and at the top i made it so the new rocker was overlapped by the 1/4 we left below the doors. this was plug welded and i ran a good weld all the way along the seem as well so i could grind it all smooth. I can take some pics of my rockers tomorrow if i wasn't clear enough. as for as forming the metal without tools... you may be able to get away with forming it on a pipe or something.
