Are the brake pads supposed to be touching the rotors? Might be a stupid question but I read some posts that they only look like there touching but there "floating", but my front pads definitely look like they are touching. I just fixed my seized parking brake and now when I drive the car there are really high pitch squealing coming from the from wheels. I didn't hear this before I fixed the parking brake. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

If the noise arrived after working on the rear brakes my guess is that the shoes are still not releasing all the way and are rubbing just a little. If you jack the car back up and spin the wheel you should hear if they are making noise. As far as the front brake pads they are not supposed to touch unless your foot is on the brake pedal. There is not much space between the rotors and pads and it looks like they are touching. Again jack up the car and spin the wheel to find out.

I'm sure I will get a lot of negative replies for this but I cut out the parking brake shoes. I have never used parking brakes in my life other than on my manual cars. I don't know why I used it this time, but I did. The car is old, beat up, high mileage with many other problems. It's not a car you would pour $$ in babying. I just want it to run as long as it can, as cheap as it can. Money is an absolute factor right now in my life, and my decision to cut out the shoes. I'll take neg replies along with help, thanks.

cutting the lines may have not released the parking brake all the way and it could still be rubbing.

I did not cut the lines, I literally cut the brake shoes in half and took them out. That's all I did. But how would the parking brake affect the front brakes?

Do the front wheels spin easily with the car in the air? I had a 93 beretta that had the abs module go bad and the front brakes drug all the time i just replaced the master cylinder with a non abs one and all was fine after that.

You probably have a warped rotor or two. Your methods of repair are questionable at best.

I never said I wanted to repair it. I don't need them so I rather get rid of them then spend hundreds of dollars needlessly on a car that is not worth it. It's a matter of having lost a job at a very crucial point in life and having to balance priorities over having to "baby" a car like most of you do. It's unfortunate that most people do not have the ability to understand what it's like to have to wonder how your going to pay your bills every month, not which set of overpriced rims should I get. I need my car to move, not be able to look and act like a brand new car, or a show car.
I understand some people come on these boards for advice to customize and upgrade which is great, but some people actually come here for regular "helpful" mechanical advice on repairs they "need" to make, try to remember that.

If the noise is comming from the front it is more than likly 1 of 2 things:
1)brakes have reached the squeal tab(also known as the indicater tab) - pretty much telling you you'll need front brakes soon
    2) There is a little "guard" that rides right by the rotor on the bottom inside of the rotor. Not really visable with the wheel on. sometimes ice or somthing can bend it just enough to have it rub on the rotor.

What you did in the rear isn't going to cause any issues in the front. And lets face it. e-brakes are pretty much useless on auto cars. if you are in such a tight spot that you need it to stop the car, chances are you've hit whatever it was you were hoping to avoid before your foot gets halfway to the e-brake. most senarios go like this: ahh crap! hit brakes- brakes drop to the floor - crunch. see no time for e-brake. I live in upper michigan and most cables on 10 year old cars are seized from lack of use anyways.

Do the front wheels spin easily with the car in the air?
Just checked, they don't really want to move in the air. I tried searching for a grand prix MC without abs and had no luck. Anybody know of one? Could I just get a ABS module from another GTP and install that, assuming that one is in working order?

touching is the flaw of floating calipers.

However, wheels should still spin, but consider you're turning the transmission at the same time.

Its not your ABS or MC, they don't apply any force when the vehicle is off.

Take the sliders out, clean out the hole, install with new brake grease.

Also try to compress caliper, if this isn't possible the caliper may be seized.

E-brake is needed for a safety.

I'd pull the rear rotor to make sure nothing is scraping against the inner hat.

    Also, check dust shields.

Sometimes they get bent and rub against the rotors.
