Many of you that respond to my threads realize i am dealing with several issues. Some issues are small some may be larger, luckily the car has been running decent enough to keep me going.Well this issue started tonight and had me fairly concerned. Most noticable at moderate speed (20-30) noticed that the car started really getting bumpy/jerky when your driving straight and you slightly turn steering wheel to the right. You can correct the wheel to straight but the herky jerky bumping stays for a bit then goes away. But it is pretty rough while its bumpy. And it is not doing it everytime, some drives no issue.Ive also noticed that while driving and again slightly turning steering wheel to right(maybe left too)once you get to a certain point it feels like the steering gets stiff or kinda hits a block(if this makes any sense).Anyway since getting the car the front has gotten new tires, new outer tierods, and an ALIGNMENT.I do realize this is not much to go on and could be numerous issues, its got me sad cause im probably gonna take it to BIG ALS tomorrow.

you can get a used rack for 75 to 125 from a junk yard, or get a new one from anywhere from 200 to 300, and install it yourself, and pocket the rest of all that money to fix other problems. its not a fun job but well worth doing if on a tight budget.

that would be the way to go, that way you can learn as you go.

its really just nuts and bolts, not a big deal, the only tools you need are a lug wrench, 11mm, 13 mm, 15mm, 17mm and a 18mm socket and 18mm line wrench or open end. 2 jack stands and a good jack.

the link for the rack removal is dead right now, if it comes back on line, you could read through it, its not that bad.

scotty dude.I visit jersey at least twice a year.If i thought this car could survive a 400 ml trip at be at your front door lol.I just did an online search of steering racks, not too bad for a new one. However one question,it offers option of with magnasteer or without.Which would be appropriate?theres only a $10 dollar difference between the two.

if you can get your car up in the air, ramps or such, look where the steering shaft hooks up on the rack,(round part, with a rubber boot to the fire wall) diver side, from there will be wires leading up to the side of the trans, and thats where the plug is to unhook the racks wires. if you have magnasteer.

most of these cars have it so chances are you do, worst comes to worst, call the dealer with your vin # in hand and they can tell you.

or check out your rpo codes in the trunk, FE3 is sport suspension, so that's automatically magnasteer. and theres a code for magnasteer as well, not to sure maybe NV7 ??? there is a sticker on the inside of the trunk lid with the codes on it.
