I have an 08 gp and i love it but the ride is rough. I know its a sport suspension but anyone here change their suspension when it was due to something alittle softer if possible?? It kinda rides like my old iroc z. Im not looking for a crown vic comfort but il sacrafice abit of high speed cornering for a smoother ride.

How do you know it is the sport suspension? Does it say FE2? All that is the GT struts/coils and that is hardly sporty.

You have a Base model...its probably the best your going to get.

You could replace the struts with bilsteins and stock springs and see how you like that ride.

I never thought the GP stock suspension was rough, I found it too soft. Come take a ride in my GP and see what rough is LOL

08s were either GXP or base, but I'm pretty sure you could order the GT options with the base it just wasn't called a GT. Check your RPO if it says FE1 it is base (soft), FE2 is slightly firmer.

    Sport suspension? ELL OH ELL.

The stock suspension on a GP is FAR from sport. I've driven trucks with sportier suspensions.

If its "harsh" then either your struts are blown, or you are just a pus$y.

Iroc on eibachs rides much harsher than these cars.

Hell, these cars even on lowering springs, larger sways and stiffer struts its still softer than a lowered iroc.

You might want an H body.

    LeSabre or Park Avenue Ultra.

    Perhaps a Bonneville.

Also which tires do you have? And how old are they?

You might want some nice michelin harmony's or primacy MXV4's.

A nice touring tire takes a little edge off of the bumps in the road.

Compared to a Camry, my 05 GT suspension is sporty. Wouldn't believe it until I drove a relative's 1 yr old Camry. Yep tires make a difference.

Maybe the ops strut bushings/spring insulators are shot. How many miles on that 08 GP?

Ive got about 79 000 kms so 50 000 miles on it and yes these roads up here and awful. No use dodging a pothole cuz you just hit another.
I was looking online how to do a self diagnose of the rear suspension to see if everything is good but couldnt find any info. I know somethings not right there but just not sure what im looking for. any info would b helpful. thanks guys

If you hit lots of bumps they you could have already blown your struts. Look at the shaft of the strut itself and see if it appears wet. If it is then the seals are blown and causing your rough ride.

ok, thanx ill try that and see if thats the culprit. I do all my own work, im mechanically inlined. But as for my suspension, well ,,, im dumbfound.

Oh, on a completly different topic, i had hole in my leather seat from a knife that was in my back pocket. I bought a permatex leather repair kit. You cant even tell it was ripped.

anyways, would there be other ways to check for problems on r.s. I will follow up on strut shaft.
    thanx

Just to make sure i went and tried out two other gps of the same year and they ride the same pretty much. So I solved the problem as cheap as i could....... a 100 pound sand bag in the trunk. now it rides much better lol. guess Its my first gp, not used of it.

50K miles your struts could be toast if they've had a hard life like you described.
The strut doesn't have to be blown and leaking to be bad.
Did you ever check to see which suspension package you had FE1 or FE2?

There is a white square sticker with all your RPO codes, check the inside of the door, glove box, I think there was one on the underside of the card board spare tire cover.
