So i was wondering if any one in this forum or another has install rear wheel drive on a GP. I mean i dont see why it would be such a big problem because the firebird that has the 3.8 engine i would think that the rear wheel transmission would be a suitable one for the GP. Again i am just wondering cause that would be pretty cool to find out and see how a gp does performace wise with rw traction.

It would cost to much to make it work for it to be worth it. The firebird 3800 and the GP/Buick 3800 are different.

It's a very involved project. Read through this thread:

or keep the six for better handling.

Should have dropped a T5 in there as well.

6 speeds are terrible for autox, not that he would be doing that. But in honestly this thing with 6 speeds sucks, too many gear changes because they are close ratio, it sucks after a while. 5 speeds are just better period. Why do you think the Mitsu EVO highend FQ model is a 5 speed, better for spooling the big turbo, better for track, better for street, better all around really.

IMO S52 swap or bust....thats what he really should have done.

    T56 > T5 for strength.

And stock gear ratios aren't nearly as bad as you make them out to be.

You can get a close gear ratio transmission though....

There was guy out in Houston that paid a shop to do his. They used pretty much everything from a Grand National including the engine.

Then it made it's way to Dallas to a new owner. I haven't heard anything about the car in a couple years. For all I know it could have gone kaboom.
