I'm a mechanical designer by trade and I've been fooling around with some stuff. I have a 98 Trans Am that has C6 Vette brakes on the front. I've been working on these two Grand Prixs for my brothers, one a 98 GT 2-door and the other a 2000 GTP 4-door. I was looking for some cool upgrades to do, so I saw how easy it was to upgrade to LS1 brakes on these cars and it got me thinking.

    I have a design for a C6 bracket on an LS1 F-body, why can't I modify it to work on a 97-03 Grand Prix?

My brother and I have been talking about opening up a business for a while now, so we're thinking about doing some brake kits for the W-body. I'm not sure on pricing, but I'm guessing it would end up being somewhere around $650. This would be:
New powdercoated caliper and bracket (C5 or C6, your choice) (your choice of a bunch of colors, I've been powdercoating for many years)
    Hawk pads
    Drilled/Slotted 13" rotors
    Adapter bracket
    Hardware

So, is this worth looking into making a kit?

Oh, and we would sponsor if we decide to do this. Right now we are just two brothers banging around on cars in the garage, but we've wanted to start a business for a while now.

There may be some interest in the 13" setup. I know right now you can get a c5 caliper on an f-body pad bracket on 12" rotors real easy.

Yeah, it is simple. Just a bushing or drill and tap the F-body bracket. You can use the C6 caliper as well. The C5 caliper has bigger diameter pistons, but the C6 has a thicker walled piston.

Brother 2: 2000 Grand Prix GTP 4-door - stock until he learns to stop breaking his junk.

I think you'd sell a few here and there...There's not a whole lot of people that would put out that kind of money for brakes, but I plan on that upgrade over the summer. I think more people would buy just the brackets alone and find the other parts themselves, even though package deal is more convenint

That's a good idea. I know I'd rather buy the brackets and then piece together the rest of the parts.

And then you can still offer to PC the brackets or calipers as an add on for people as well. PC is fun, I bought the gun a few year ago and have been doing a bunch of little stuff

Well you'd want the piston size to be equal to or just slightly less than the stock calipers.

You're greatly increasing the rotor size so you've gotta keep it somewhat equal.

Most of the time, people seem to run 12" F body rotors with C5/C6 calipers.

Yeah, I love powdercoating. I have a few different guns now. Pretty much anything I can fit in my oven I powdercoat.

OK guys, hammering out the design now. My design for C5/C6 brakes on a 4th gen F-body is working out pretty well. Just trying to finalize things on the GP stuff.

Looks like the bracket and hardware will probably run about $90.

Iirc correctly the c5's are 12.8...but you'll still need 17's

Yes, c5 rotors are 12.8", but rounding up to 13" is so much easier to say. Haha.
