Re: The Official what you need and how-to for CTS-V brakes
OK So an update as to my rear Cts-v project... the calipers are going to need a bracket in order to install them..they are off by about 1/2". The mounting bolts however are the correct size so that's a plus lol...I think the caliper needs to be spaces off the spindle about 1/4 of an inch as well. I will be designing a bracket soon and will CNC a prototype as well
Re: The Official what you need and how-to for CTS-V brakes
If you could post pictures i would appreciate it. I have never seen the rear calipers in person.what about the ebrake?
Re: The Official what you need and how-to for CTS-V brakes
sure... they look just like the fronts really, just smaller... as for the e-brake i wont be utilizing it... even if i were to do the rear gxp conversion i wouldn't use it either... i am going to start next week designing a bracket.. my roommate is an aerospace engineer so he will draw it up in AutoCad and then another buddy just bought a 5-axis CNC :p

Re: The Official what you need and how-to for CTS-V brakes
Just did a quick read through and some research and was wondering aren't these the same exact Brembo brakes that are used on other cars like the SRT8 and Evo as well as subaru vehicles and others of course. They look exactly the same and i highly doubt brembo would change there calipers bolt up pattern for every car they went on. Based on what little research i have done of course. lol

Yup Brembo has a pretty generic design for these, these are the same off the '10 Camaro, G8 GXP, CTS-V, STS-V, Evo and I'm sure there are many others, sometimes the do change the bracket for mounting a little but I'm sure they all could take the same brake pads LOL.

Ha I'm sure, but over all same design which gives us more option to look at as far as buying them goes. I am pretty sure the srt8 are the same as well just wouldn't make much sense for brembo to change there setups for every different car they went on lol

Re: The Official what you need and how-to for CTS-V brakes
This is the first one, the picture is just wrong guys:
ACDelco 172-2287 Caliper Assembly : Amazon.com : Automotive
Second one is "Used" but repackaged and certified by amazon, good to me:
Amazon.com: Buying Choices: ACDelco 172-2288 Caliper Assembly
Re: The Official what you need and how-to for CTS-V brakes
Be careful that it is the right part... may want to call Amazon to double check... because when I ordered the rear caliper... they sent me an e-brake pad. But the part number that was with the pad matched the rear caliper p/n... just a heads up for anyone ordering

Its the one buickman used. Caliper Assembly is in the title.
Re: The Official what you need and how-to for CTS-V brakes
It was the title when I ordered it too.. also the picture was of the caliper... don't know what happened but it was a pain to return and get the correct thing.. just a heads up is all
Re: The Official what you need and how-to for CTS-V brakes

Re: The Official what you need and how-to for CTS-V brakes
I'm interested to see where this CTS-V rear brake project goes.

Well I made some good headway the other day, got some good measurements and mocked up bracket... next few weeks are busy at work so hopefully I will have some time in between
Re: The Official what you need and how-to for CTS-V brakes
This is good news. If it all pans out would you be willing to manufacture a mounting solution? I would obviously pay you :)
