I should have looked into the clunk I'd been hearing sooner. This morning 5am on an on-ramp to the highway headed into the city I experienced death wobble. Thats the only way I can describe it because I've driven a Ram 2500 that had "Death Wobble" and saying simply shimmy or shake doesn't accuratly describe the violent shake in the chassis. I got out and inspected the tire, but with no light available all I could tell was that all the lug nuts and tires were in good condition.

I know its the rear and pretty sure its passenger side. Steering was dangerous but did not vibrate, it came through the chassis. I had to keep it around 20mph until I got to the parking lot for work as it came and went in intervals with no real tell of when it would occur. Braking, accelerating and turning wouldnt set it off. However train tracks and the bridge gaps set it off.

Once in the parking lot for work, I notice the rear passenger tire was on its toe. I pulled out and made a circle of the lot and it returned to normal. The correct thing to do is have it towed home to lift and look at it, but money is very short so please excuse my ignorance and help me diagnose this.

Based on the vehicles behavior and when the mechanics that performed the alignment roughly a year ago, they were only able to adjust so much as a part was siezed in the rear. I believe the error to be the Track Bar. If my diagnosis is incorrect, please provide guidence. If it is the track bar, can I do the replacement in the parking lot with my hand tools/jack and a new part? or will I need access to my impact gun?

The track bar was snapped in half, there was alot of ware/fatigue around the area when the adjustments are made on the track bar so possibly many attempts to torque the siezed nut wore it down.

No auto store in town (autozone/pepboys) has the part and they want 117$ for a Dorman Track bar 905502 http://www.autozone.com/autozone/par...mString=search

www.rockauto.com has pn the identical Dorman Track bar pn 905502 for 35$. I got next day shipping which was only an extra 10$ total is just over 50$.

I will use rockauto.com for my replacement parts from now on.
