Owner of stock 2001 GTP Grand Prix

I am looking to replace my rusted brake rotors, possibly with drilled ones, also want to get my rusted calipers either powdered coated with metallic blue to match my car or get new ones, black with white writing would ok as well.

Both new rotors and calipers are not going to be for performance but need to hold up under high speed freeway driving and must be silent.

If I go to a local mom & pop autobody/custom shop, how much would it run me to get the new rotors and custom calipers?, I will also want the inside of my stock rims to be cleaned/polished.

    Thanks
    TC

I would do the rims yourself new stock rotors are about 50 bucks a piece tops a set pads will be around $40 and if your getting your calipers powder coated you could get them all done for about $60-$100 so I would say for the whole thing your looking at a price of around $300

For the rims just do them your self get a clear coat safe cleaner and clean them up real good then pick your favorite cleaner wax and get to work and they will clean up real nice

If you're gonna replace everything why not upgrade? At least get 04 brackets so you can run a larger rotor.

get centric premium rotors and wagner thermoquiet pads.

also the 00-05 impala calipers would allow you to run the 00-05 impala rotors which is a nice upgrade for stock cars.

Might as well just ask for pads for the same car as well.

hmm, very interesting, thanks for the info, will look into it.

    1. whats the advantage of larger rotors and why impala rotors?

    2. would drilled rotors be a good idea or not required?

    thanks

    1. moves brake bias forward.

where it should be with our soft suspension.

impala's fit, they're nearly one inch in diameter larger yet around 2 lbs per rotor heavier.

Not a bad compromise at all for a stock car.

    2. No. Simply put, drilled are for looks only unless you're looking at rotors with curved veins. The only ones for our cars that fit are the 12.7" GXP brakes which is overkill for a stock car both in weight/performance and cost.

Well, they allow you to use ceramic pads which cut down on the brake dust. Also D&S rotors cost the same on feebay as the regular ones at the parts store.
I just picked up my Impala dual piston caliper brakes and brackets on feebay for $50 keep you eyes open there are deals out there.

D&S rotors will eat soft pads and crack when used with good ones.

    Kinda a lose/lose situation.
