Well I think it is time to do brakes on the minivan. So far it has stock F-body brakes upfront, stock Montana drums in the rear and stock rubber lines all the way around. It stops ok for just driving around. But when they get heated up trying to slow down from 105mph to 25mph going through the tollbooth while playing with an Audi and a BMW, they get a little iffy. They still work. But they just don't feel like they are grabbing like they should. And it's getting worse to the point it feels weird just driving around town after awhile. Feels like they are glazed or something. Need to make it work right. I do let my Mom borrow it from time to time to take my Dad, Brother, his Wife and there 3 kids out to the park and what not. And yes they love the boost. lol. So I want to do something to make sure it will stop when needed without any problems. I am the main person who beats on it. Mostly when playing around. Mom every once in awhile when passing or pulling into traffic. Would love to do GXP all the way around. But don't have money for that. Rear drums are going to stay for now till I can get disc on it. And that probably won't happen till when I do the GXP upgrade. So the only thing I can think of for right now is keeping with the F-body brakes upfront. Question is what to do to them. I have a set of the Eradispeed 2 piece rotors just sitting here. I was going to use them on my Camaro. But that was like a year ago and I don't know when I am ever going to do it. So I can use them. But what are the advantages to those over a "stock" rotor. I want to make sure that the goods are good enough. I heard that they are lighter. So that helps in braking and acceleration and also in transmission life. Just need to know if that's true and if there are any other advantages or disadvantages. Because it will blow my whole sleeper aspect where it is a 2 piece and is drilled and slotted. Looks kinda of out of place on a minivan. Where as stock rotors are well, stock looking. Also need a good choice of pads. And want to do the SS lines also. Just don't know where to find them for a minivan. Fronts will work off a Grand Prix. Rear, I have no clue. Also. Just so you guys know. Just because it is a minivan, dose not mean it ways a crap load. It is only 200 pounds heavier then the Grand Prix. So if you guys have any ideas. Please let me know. Thanks in advance! Adam :-)

    what pads are you running?

Pads make a bigger difference in terms of heat soak.

Honestly right now I have no clue. Was low on funds and in a hurry to get it back on the road. I used what ever was on them when I pulled them off a 2002 Z28 that a guy was parting out. Pads looked good and thick and the rotors got a quick turn on the brake lathe. I will say it was WAY better then the warped crappy stock brakes that the guy was bragging about that they were new when he was trying to sell me the van. Never really bought any other set of pads then what was at the parts store. I usually get he top of the line pads at Autozone. Which are the Z max(?) pads now. They are not the cheapest pad they carry. So they must be good. And they have a lifetime warranty. That is about the extent of my brake pad buying knowledge. Never really looked at anything else for just a daily driver.

get hawk ceramics or EBC red stuff.

then see how your braking is.

also if you're lowered with a higher spring rate you're going to want more brake bias towards the rear compared to stock.

    Not lowered, Stock ride height.

Never really looked at those pads into much detail. But $100 a set with no lifetime warranty. They better be damn good. lol.

Also would you use those with the Eradispeed rotors or stock rotors?

I can pick up the Hawk pads and Centric rotors from tire rack for about $200. Not bad of a price. I hope they will last do to no warranty. I drive a lot. And I do like the aspect of keeping my sleeper look. So you think I should not use the Eradispeed rotors.

only point in those rotors is lower rotating mass and unsprung weight.

neither of which are a concern till you get into the 13"+ region.

the reason those pads dont have a warranty is because people who want those pads abuse their vehicles.

abuse isn't covered so to save time, offer almost no warranty.

OK, that makes sense. Not enough weight to make a difference in rotation mass at that small of a diameter.

And ya I know that's why they have no warranty on the pads. I just don't want them to wear out in a year and have to buy new ones at $100 a set every time.

its 2 lbs per rotor saved if you went with eradispeed's in the GM 12" or was it 1 lb.

point is, its not worth paying 2.5 times as much for at that small of a gain.
