    Hey All,

Question: I had Monroe Rear Quick Struts put on in October, along with 4 brand new Bridgestone Potenza High Performance All Season Tires. Do our cars typically drive like lumber wagons? I just seem to get an awful lot of noise going over bumps and what not from the back end. Granted I understand the tires are bigger and wider than my Grand Am was, but it just seems like it should be less lumber jack like. Any thoughts. I got a good deal on the Quick Struts: $300 for the set and my step dad put them on, but a good deal doesn't always mean good product.

    Any thoughts?

    Mike

what did you change just the struts? because the strut mounts do go bad quite often and you should change them when you change the strut since your already there. there about 50$ each.

You can get the complete assembly including new springs, mounts and struts shipped to your door for under $250.00 from Rockauto. Dont get the econo ones, but the next step up.

He said quick struts, they are from Monroe, and if I'm not mistaken are the entire assembly.

Check out the rear sway bar endlinks, sometimes simply taking them off you can screw them up.

If you want high performance struts, Monroe quick struts won't do. The damping is too soft. Also the springs will be for the plain-jane GPs, not the gxp or comp-g. Yes you can put them on but you will turn it into a rental car suspension.

Working at a shop that does a lot of Monroe quick struts, I can say that more than a few have come out of the box with the top nut not torqued down on the top plate. I bet this is the problem.
