Usually that is how some of my car repairs good. Should be easy but the darnedest things happen because of age/rust. My '94 Grand Am can be like that.
OH and that just bugs me. I bought the Monte as a replacement "daily driver" since the Grand Am (at the time was over 150K in '08). I decided as long as the Grand Am runs and cost of repair is minimal, I will keep the Monte off the winter roads. <sigh> someday it may have to join the club of other "daily drivers"..

The bumper that was painted in that picture got ripped off. My brother had the car full of fatf*cks and they bottomed out ripping the bumper almost straight up the middle. So a replacement went on with no flames

Thanks for the pics! That's a sad to hear the bumper got ripped off (but a funny story). But those are the flames I remember! Small world man!

As for being a PITA to change, not sure why. Admittedly my only pain point was not having an impact gun available (breaking the bolts free holding the arm took a lot of UMPH). Out side of that, changing them was a breeze, easy, straight forward.

As I stated, if I were going to buy a set new, I too agree with going for a tubular pair (hence why I recommended ordering a set from UMI Performance, like what I put on my Monte). The tubular ones will function better then stock. Just my opinion.

I replaced my stock trailing arms with a set of GMPP trailing arms for $36 for the pair (they are tubular versus the stock ones that are u shaped) but I don't believe they are available any longer. For a street driven car (not raced), they would be perfect if you can still get them. Mine were very easy to replace-no issues, very straight forward-car had 90,000 miles at the time. As noted, an impact gun makes it very easy! The front lower control arms were real easy as well, just to note.

is it possible for my car to be riding better now? i can swear it doesnt hit bumps in the ass as hard anymore.. but maybe its just me lol

Cheaper?? Care to explain that one? You can buy WBS trialing arms for little over half the price of what you paid, and it's UMI - not UMP.

Fairly certain BMR rear end is the best out there.

Is this the correct part for a '97-'03 Grand Prix for the trailing arm to replace my "U" shaped ones? I'm assuming it's a kit with the rubber bushings in the end, as well, right?
