So a week ago, when inspecting a strange rattle from the rear of my '00 GP GT, I saw not only a broken rear sway bar, but a bent bar that runs parallel to what I'm assuming is the track bar which has threads on it, while the bent bar does not.

Looking online at O'Reilly's, there is an adjustable and a fixed track bar. So my question is whether the GP suspension is comprised of two track bars for each side of the car, one fixed and one adjustable?

On a side note, I just finished up the front and rear sway bar replacement, and man that front was a PITA. About 10 hours for both bars... Ridiculous.

10 hours for both sway bars? Something tells me you did it wrong.

The rear should be a breeze and the front one... still not 10 hours.

And does the bar run longitudinal or transversely?

In otherwords, same way as the brake rotors or perpendicular?

It runs transversely, perpendicular to the rotor and the trailing arm, that's why I am confused on what the bar is.

Haha that's exactly why I was pissed, I got the front bar in and realized it was upside down, so I had to redo it. The clearances were just not being very forgiving, and it was just pissing me off. But eventually I got it in RIGHT, so don't worry about that haha.

    Forward lateral link.

    Nice one...

And the front sway bar does fit both ways FYI.

Yep, those are the front and rear lateral arms. The one that goes toward the front of the car is the trailing arm.

Not sure why the sway bars were so hard. I did my front in about half an hour. Took a couple tries to get the right angle for the bigger bar to go in, but not even difficult enough to start throwing wrenches.

    Alright, thanks guys.

And it didn't fit the first time cause it was hitting on the rack and pinion, it had zero clearance. Also, it was hitting the exhaust so that was an extra challenge to manipulate it. I'm just glad it's done.

    Again, appreciate it.

    np.

    Looks like you need:

    New struts assy's

    New rear brakes

    new gas tank strap.

and the previously mentioned lateral link.

You can get upgraded ones as well: http://www.bmrfabrication.com/W-Body.htm

Oh yeah, the car could definitely use some work. I live in Minnesota, so you have to love all the salt and what not. The front sway bar snapped about 6 months ago, and the rear a week ago, so it was time to swap them out. I drive fairly conservatively, so I wasn't too worried about driving on the snapped front one that whole time.

During the install of the front, I broke a tie rod end trying to get some clearance, so that sucked. Probably shouldn't have followed that advice. Definitely need that lateral link, throwing off my alignment so bad. Tires are worn down on the outside on the rear.

Rear brakes have been on the list for awhile now. Rotors are rusted even worse than the pic shows, and pads are at about 30%.

Do any of you have experience with Dorman or Mevotech suspension parts? I would like to go with Moog, but again, I can't afford it; I'm a jobless 17 year old high school senior with very little cash flow, so that doesn't help any. I drive fairly conservatively, so it's not like I would need the top of the line equipment, such as BMR.

    dorman stuff should be decent.

the UIM they make for these cars is better than the stock one.
