I have recently noticed some new rattling on my 03 GT. It sounds like it is coming from the struts and is more noticable on rough roads. The ride seems a little eratic too.

How long should the factory struts last?

    Thanks

80 000 miles seems to be the "recommended replacement period."

All depends on who you're talking too.

In all honesty, shruts age like O2 sensors and tires, they slowly get worse and worse. Difficult to notice over time the decrease in performance.

How many miles on your car?

Example: parents acura, took 280 K miles before the rear struts failed, fronts are still going. Factory struts too. Doesnt ride nearly as nice as it could though. Still rides nicer than my GP which is a year newer and has about a third of the mileage on it.

You can ride them till they break or replace them every 80 K or so to keep your ride quality higher. Up to you.

I'd change 'em for good measure. Should ride nicer granted you get OE level struts.

145 000 miles and still on the oem set of struts and springs. Backs are slowly failing, fronts will live a bit longer, but i am going LOW anyways.

if youre going stock then get KYB GR2's. If youre plannin on slamming your car with springs (that drop more than vogtlands) then go with KYB AGX.
