hello, i have a 98 gtp. the other day i had a flat on the rear, and i noticed in the rears on both sides, where you would put the jack on it is almost all rusted out. i mean when i was jacking it up it was crunching and peices of rusted metal fell off. its really bad under the body effects that run under the doors from the rear to the front. its the worst rust ive seen on any newer car. now granted it has 190xxx miles on her but DAMN. my 1992 roadmast with 298xxx didnt have that much rust. me and the wife talked and if and when we get our house finally this year, we're going to use the first time homebuyer credit to buy a newer gtp. i truly love this car. but was just basically wandering if this is normal?
1998 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP 4dr red. all stock with 185,xxx miles.

i used to live in Indiana, so probably... move out of that terrible state and somewhere where salt is non existent on the roads and you will never worry about rust again!!

you should get your under body done with that protective paint or what not. I forget what it's called but it looks really nice and protects from rust and stuff.

I see a lot of old muscle cars use it now.

    POR-15.

Yes, I have seen a lot of GPs with this kind of rust. Mine doesn't have near that much on it, and frankly, I am surprised. The car was a DD in NY state, and now I DD it here in PA. So it has seen its share of salt. But I make it a point to wash out under there every month or so to get the dirt and salt out. Especially in the winter.
