2000 gtp coupe. bought the car needing an engine, after engine the trans didnt have fourth gear, i felt the "heavyness" then, i thought it was in the trans, shortly after the trans went out, i replaced the trans, has all gears and tcc seems perfect. car still feels "heavy" the car had a caliper in the front that was stuck but it has also been replaced, still feels heavy, there are no lights on on the dash, my emergency brake does not work i think one of the cables is broke, i went thru all the brakes when i did the front, lubed them, i didnt see any problems. has anyone had this or mabe ideas? i kno it slows my car doen plus it strains the engine and tras and honestly i dont want to replace those again. my friend has a 99 gtp coupe and boy it feels great compared to mine..like more free moving. i dunno logic tellsd me brakes but i do not see a problem..

maybe a little out there but by any chance did u reuse the old torque converter from the other trans? If its not engaging properly im sure your car will feel like a dog. And lemme guess the other Gtp feels a ton quicker at stop lights? I dunno where else Id start if youve checked brakes already.

i did not use the old torque converter, i kind of assumed the old one was bad, i have checked the car in nutral and jacked up and it feels fine, there are 173,000 on the car, trans has 130, but it did it b4 the trans got replaced and i dont believe it has anything to do with the trans. there are no lights on on the dash all wheel bearings are good. i dunno. i feel it about got to be in the brakes, i went through them again and maybe a lil better when i did the back ones all four calipers pushed in good, i lubed up the slide pins....it just seems like there is extra weight somewhere in this thing. im gonna have to replace everything in the brakes a little at a time, like rear first then front. i do kno there is an emergency brake on these that is similar to drum brakes, maybe rust in there or something. was just wonderin if ne 1 had the same experience. thanks

maybe a plugged exhaust system. To much back pressure cause it to bog down. Check your fuel pressure maybe its not getting enough. PCV valve is another, to much pressure in the crank case.... just some ideas to look

i re did the exaust and it was faster, i still feel its in the brakes, the car is still fast, but just should be better lol. and the gas mileage kind of sucks. the 99 that i previously mentioned when he comes around i check his adverage and its right on 20 mpg, or 20.1, or 20.2 f in thing. my adverage is around 15. 16. wtf. i dunno if this car got a good tune b4 he bought it or wat but id like to trade him lol. stock pully is on there. still his feels more free its hard to explain. mine just feels like there is four people sitting in the back. what can i take off to make it lighter without changing looks etc.

have you checked the cat when you did the exhaust? my GT was getting horrible milage and i replaced a ton of stuff and nothing fixed it until i found out some cats on the grand prixs are warrantied! Call a dealer and ask them if the cat on your car is warrantied. All you should have to do is give them the vin #. Mine was replaced for free. After I put plugs wires ignition coils, egr valve, air filter, o2 sensors, and cleaned the TPS sensor and the MAF sensor on the intake. The stuff I did replace was alright it needed it anyway and good thing I was working at a parts store it wasnt that expensive. Check the Cat and see if its under warranty.

dude.. how can you be so sure it's the brakes? does one wheel get that much hotter than the other? or are all of them abnormally hot? also, you have a heavy car. idk, i wouldn't go around assuming it's the brakes.. for it to feel that heavy the brakes have to be rubbing pretty good.. check the pads even.

You said the cable for the parking brake is on. Are you sure it's fully disengaged? Without the cable working you'd have to pull the rear rotors to be sure.

yea the e brake is off. the catalyic convertor is new. i recently went thru the front brakes again and i got some brake kleen and made sure i cleaned out all the grease from the caliper pins, replaced with new synthetic. it may be a little better but i think its a few things one was def the brakes and i do need to go re do the back ones. all wheels spin without too much effort, still feels like the car slows down too much when i let off the gas, also recently i messed with the back bumper and u would not believe the bondo i can see from removing the tail lights to replace a bulb i was like holy shyt, and i kno there is bondo in the front fender and the front bumper as well. now if this is anything to do with it i dunno but it is weight. sounds silly. i figure worst case ill find a few kilos in the frame somewhere lol.
