i jus wana lower it an inch..im not sure how a lowered civic drives..but i would like it ride nicely
Do people upgrade struts when lowering to maintain the ride/ improve handling or is it something that is necessary? Also what is the purpose of a camber kit? Is camber not adjustable from the factory?
you cannot maintain ride quality. its a fact of life. the only thing that helps are buying adjustable struts (KYB AGX).
camber is not adjustable from the factory, hense the kit.
thats because a grand prix isnt meant to be lowered. it throws off axle geometry (causing vibration while accelerating), makes the car ride really rough, and parts wear out much faster.
the best springs for a slight lowering and still a good ride are vogtland springs.
the best springs for slamming the car are intrax, but the ride suffers immensely.
the best springs for an in between look are either SSC, B&G, or eibach.
the overall best setup would be coilovers ($$$) or baggin it ($$$$$).
a lot of people lower it and then complain about the ride quality. then i step in and say, "why the hell did you lower it then?".
i dont mind my car being lowered. it looks tits and still doesnt drive as bad as a rice rocket would. anyone that complains is a baby.
the suspension geometry is cured by either shorter dogbones or motor mount spacers to raise the motor/trans back up to where it originally was. i cant use the spacers because my headers would eat the underside of my car so i have shorter dogbones.
for wear parts, you just need stuff that is made for lowering springs. the only strut made for our cars for that situation are KYB AGX. without nice struts youll have to switch them a lot more often because they just go bad faster. strut mounts and bushings are self explanatory why they go bad.
just drive around with a few hundred pounds of weight in your car for that lowered look
