Hello, I am new here. I recently aquired a 1994 SE with a 3.1 and the 4T60E. My question is about the rear suspension. The struts are shot and every rubber bushing is toast, but I am not sure that is the reason why the left rear tire rubs the top of the fender well over certain dips in the road. I found the tire ID tag on the underside of the trunk lid and the tires on the car are the correct size 225 60 16. I then measured the distance from the highest point on the fenderwell and the top edge of the rim. The drivers side is 5 11/16 inches and the passenger is 6 1/8. Nearly a half inch difference! I looked at the mono leaf type spring and did not notice any cracks or breaks. Is it possible the spring is shot or sagging just on the one side? I also inspected the strut to body mounting area and did not find any breaks there... any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!

I have the SAME car, and the same problem. It's your struts, and springs. I'd suggest just getting the whole strut, mount and everything, thats my plan.

I was looking into replacement parts for the rear of this car. I found someone selling a used mono leaf spring and in the description the seller pointed out that the spring is fiberglass. Is this what it is really made of?

Yeah, they are made fiberglass or steel. Fiberglass is what GM is starting to use nowadays.

Well, I went to Autozone, picked a set of rear leaf spring insulator pads for about $28 and put them in. They replace the insulating rubber pads that go on the ends of the spring where it rests in the rear of the knuckle. Tire does not rub the fender anymore.
