When I accelerate, I hear what appears to be a humming or slight thumping noise...The noise disappears when the car comes to a stop. I replaced both hub and wheel bearings with a brand new set (almost $300.00 later)...The noise appeared to have diminished when I took it for a test drive...It resurfaced minutes later. There is no clicking sound when I turn...It is almost like a "wobbly" sound...I am leaning on replacing both axles though I am not sure, which one is making the noise...I installed brand new tires, rotors and brakes...I do not believe the new Goodyear tires are making this much road noise. Any advice would be appreciated.

goodyear tires make noise (few are round from my experience working for goodyear) could it be transmission? Find a way you can support the front of the car and run it, that will eliminate tires

I could put a pair of jack stands under the front end and let it accelerate...But I noticed this problem before I replaced the car with Goodyear tires...I suspect that it might be an inner joint problem.

Do you get any vibration? No clicking sound I believe would say the outer joint is good. I had one axle shaft that would cause a vibration from between 35 - 45 or so mph. Then it was good and only on acceleration.

I didnt want to say this, but there is the possibility of a transmission issue. Thats how my tranny trouble started. A humming noise. It eventually lead to the demise of my differential it looks like. I have two threads in the 4T65E-HD section with progress and pictures if you want to see what the end result is.

Im not saying yours is a transmission issue, but keep that in the back of your head if you go to swap the axles and the noise persists.

Yikes...transmission problems scares me...I did not notice any vibrations just a hum as you accelerate and then it seems just to linger, while driving.

Its a trans problem if its comming from the can when driving and you replaced the hub's then i'm leaning toward a bearing inside the trans has let go. But to make sure take the car to a trans shop and have it checked..

I dont know how long ago you may have changed the fluid in your transmission, but it may be worthwhile to drop the pan and see if you have any metal shavings or any metal at all in there. If so, then I would get with Trannyman and get some advise from him.

Again, not saying it is the transmission, but I would definitely want to rule that out before I go and replace a bunch of other stuff.

though, a hum and a thumping noise should be quite separate, unless youre going way fast. then a thump could turn into more of a hum.

first thing (cheapest) and its likely not the issue, but swap the wheels/tires front to rear, just to rule that out.

I will give it a try though all the tires are brand new...I think I will have the Tranny guy look at it anyway. I might experiment and replace the shaft to rule out the shaft...I will rebuild the stock CV shaft or at least repack and change the booth cover....Figure it would not hurt.

I replaced the filter, gasket and fluid last year. No problems reported during that service. The only they said was that the seal had a small leak.
